Last night I turned off my PC as usual, nothing strange happened, this morning I went to turn on the PC and it didn't start, not even the RGB, not anything. Then I noticed a green light blinking on the back, it was the bios flbk, I didn't know what it was until now that I researched it. Tried everything to fix it, removed de CMOS, used a screwdriver to turn it on, checked the button itself, I tried to update the bios with a flashdrive, unplugged all the cables from the back, move it to my table and I connected the USB on the bios port, and I let it run for several minutes, but after 30 minutes I thought my MB was dead, so I just let it there to do some other things, came back 2 hours later, pressed the power button, and it booted, I got excited, turn off the pc again, put it back at my desk, plugged everything back, and now it doesn't start again, I don't know whats wrong, its been another 30 minutes, and it's still blinking, am I doing something wrong? And how did this happen if I never have messed with the bios or this button?

Hello all!

Yesterday overnight my PC suddenly stopped booting and the green BIOS Flashback LED in the back is blinking the whole time (I haven't pressed it). The RGB lights on the Mainboard are still on though, so it is getting power.

Cleared the CMOS then it booted up with all fans spinning but there was no display on the monitor and then after wanting to restart the system, it went back to the blinking green BIOS Flashback led state.

Then I tried updating the BIOS via Flashback but it just kept blinking green like before, seems like it just gets overwritten by whatever is going on.

Sometimes when pressing the BIOS Flashback button in the back, the system starts randomly which I do not understand to be honest but also with no display and the red Q-LED lights up on the Mainboard, which would hint at a CPU issue?

I'm really lost to be honest and have no idea what else I could try apart from getting a new Mainboard and/or CPU possibly.

My Parts:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

RAM: G.Skill TridentZ5 NEO 32GB DDR5

GPU: MSI RTX 4070 Super 12G

MB: ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming

PSU: beQuiet PurePower 12 1000W

I flashed the bios with just the power supply and nothing else first and it seemed to go fine - blinked for a while and then stopped. I then put the rest of my build together and after turning on the power supply the BIOS flashback led won't stop blinking. I plugged the USB back in and pressed the button again and it blinked quickly and cycles between blinking quickly and slowly. The system will not post.

It’s been 2 hours since I started the BIOS flashback. It’s just been blinking this whole time. No feedback on the monitors; no indication of failure or success. I think I may have formatted my thumb drive incorrectly, but shouldn’t that give me a failure? How long should I let this continue for? How can I safely stop it?! Here’s a little video.

SOLVED: I got on tech support with ASUS and they told me to press the cmos reset button, so I did that, redid the flash correctly, then after some bios settings, I'm back in Windows. Phew! If you're thinking of doing a bios flash and you're in windows, USE THE EZ FLASH THING! This sucked! <3

Trying to update the BIOS, watched the tutorial on the ASUS website. LED is supposed to turn off when update is finished, but it been on for over an hour. Wondering if it usually takes this long. Video said not to power off computer, remove flash drive, or press reset cmos button.

first of all, my Specs:

CPU: 7800X3D

Mainboard: Asus Tuf Gaming X670E Plus

Memory: G.Skill 6000 Mhz DDR5 CL30

My Issue:

I tried to boot my PC today but it didn't turn on.. no fans moving - nothing

I've tried multiple times but it didn't help. Then I switched off my Power Supply and turned it on again and then tried to boot it up and it worked.

So I found out if I switch off my PSU and switch it on and then quickly try to boot up my PC it works. If I wait even longer than a Second after switching on the PSU it won't.

To investigate the Issue I took a look at the back of my PC and I saw a Light blinking on and off (Mainboard I/O). I saw that the Bios Flashback Button flashing green.

It seems like the PC thinks that I want to do a BIOS Update via Flashback but I never clicked on that Button. As soon as the LED for the Flashback starts to Flash my PC refuses to start up. I have checked the Button and it seems to be in working Condition, it is not pushed in or something like that..

I think once the Flashback LED is blinking the System thinks I want to do a BIOS Update and it prevents me from powering up the PC to avoid a fatal Bios Failure (because it thinks I am updating the BIOS or something)

Do you guys ever heard about this Problem?

Needed to update a recently bought ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero X570 (non-wifi) to be able to use x5000 series CPUs.

First few attempts after following directions to put properly renamed via biosrenamer.exe .CAP file on USB were unsuccessful and produced a solid blue light after holding down the bios flashback button for three seconds/three blue blinks. (note: no cpu or ram attached to the board)

What ended up making it work was needing to do a bit more of an involved format job, windows device format alone wasn't effectively automatically reducing the USB to a single partition. This is actually a pretty critical step to ensure the motherboard reads the usb stick.

Not entirely necessary to format to FAT16, but that's what I tried at first. To do so, I used diskpart to remove the extra partition that was appearing, and also ensuring a single partion remained of size 4000 on it (command for this using diskpart with the proper partition and disk selected: "create part primary size=4000"). and then, going back to windows right-click format tool, formatted to FAT16 (also just called FAT) ensuring a single partition of size 4000 on it.

Just a possible solution to try for anyone else who has been frustrated by this.

Hey everyone, I built my first PC yesterday and wanted to update the BIOS. I did it exactly as described on the Asus website. Update to USB, renamed the file, plugged it in the back and pressed the flashback button until it blinked. I have a Tuf Gaming b650 plus motherboard. Then I checked from time to time, but the light was still on, so I went to bed, and this morning it's still on. In the Asus video, they say I shouldn't turn on the PC while the light is on.

I don't know what to do. Just leave it or is there something I can do?

So in this video the PC bios LED is blinking while the pc is turned off and power is plugged in.

Things I have tried :

• Flashing bios with 2 different 16gb flash drives formatted to fat32 MBR

• Unplugging RAM

• Unplugging PSU and testing it (Since I wasn't aware of the bios issue before)

• resetting CMOS battery and using the jumper to reset bios (followed the manual to a T)

What worked was something stupid as you see in the title which I read in a reddit comment, "as soon as the power is plugged click on the boot button before LEDs are on" which Indeed worked and I even could reboot my PC a few times, but shutting it down, it happens again.

Now this is not a new PC and the problem happened suddenly I did not change a thing, just was using it normally and went to sleep, the next day this happens. So I did not attempt any bios update or whatnot.

So I finally decided to give it a try and mount my first ever computer.

After receiving all the components, I read that I have to update my BIOS.

For information I have :

-Motherboard : Asus Tuf Gaming B550-Plus WiFi II -CPU : Ryzen 5 5600

So I followed the steps according to the Asus support YouTube video, with the computer turned off : -Formatting a new USB -Check the latest version available of the BIOS ( Version 2806) -Put the rename file on the USB -Stick it to the right USB port -Maintain the BIOS FlashBack button for three seconds

The LED started blinking, but it is still blinking after two hours, when it is said on the Internet that it should take approximately 8 minutes.

I've read that interrupting the update of the BIOS could really damage the Motherboard.

So I don't really know what to do next. Can I just unplug the power supply?

Then try with a different USB? Or an other BIOS version ? What happen if I try to boot my computer without updating the BIOS? Can it damage my hardware?

PC won’t turn on at all unless I press the “Clear CMOS” button on the back of the motherboard (ASUS Z790 Strix-A DDR5). I’ve checked the button to make sure it isn’t stuck on the I/O shield. This started happening 1-2 weeks ago, where I went to turn my PC on via the case power button and it wouldn’t respond. The first time it happened I just flipped the PSU power switch on and off and it turned right back on as normal. Fast forward to now, and this method no longer works and the BIOS FLBK LED continues flashing in a 3 blink pattern and then a double blink, then continues again and again. I’m really confused and not sure what the problem is with the board. The first time I managed to get it to boot via the clear cmos button I just let it boot into windows and I noticed it said TPM module was off in windows defender despite it being on in the BIOS. Please any help would be much appreciated :( I just want to make sure it’s the motherboard and not any other component before I RMA the motherboard with ASUS.

unfortunately my Desktop PC dont start today. I shut it down yesterday totally normal due to windows process without any issues.

So I decided to take a look and recognized, that my Bios Flbk is flashing now. The color is green and the Code is. Flash-flash-flash-flash-flash-flash,flash and repeat. Means 5 times long (with small break) and a double flash.

I took a look at the manual and searched the Internet without answers. Does anyone has an idea??? I most likely thinky my motherboard died.

Asus B650E-F wifi gaming checked two different psu, Code is the same after power up the psu No start even with front parallel start button netter screwdriver 2 pin connect.

Hi guys, hope someone can help.

I'm flashing a b550F board without the CPU or any other peripherals connected, so I can use my new 5600x.

I've got the mobo in front of me with the usb plugged into the bios slot and then power the mobo on, wait 30 seconds and press the bios flashback button on the back for 3 seconds.

The green light underneath the bios button flashes 3 times, then lights a solid green colour as the manuak says it should, but it's been green now for upwards of 10 mins which seems far too long. The manual says to wait until the green light goes out to signify that the bios update has completed.

How do i know whether this has worked without building my PC fully to check?

I just finished my first pc build and the bios flashback led won’t stop blinking. It only blinks when the computer is turned off. The motherboard I am using is the asus tuf gaming x570 pro wifi. Everything works on the computer as I would expect it to except for the flashing led. Any help is greatly appreciated.
