Asus recommended drivers are outdated!

I still use outdated drivers like Asus system control interface v3 3.1.40 (outdated) and Nvidia graphics (537.58 / 4-10-2023) And Amd Graphics driver (29-8-2024). That's the most stable version I rock at the moment. More on reddit.com

I'm building a PC with an Asus TUF B850 Plus WiFi MB, AMD Series 9 CPU, and NVidia 5000 Series GPU.

Looking at the Asus drivers download page for my MB, there are so many drivers some of which Im a bit skeptical about. Why is the Asus page offering me AMD drivers (chipset and graphics)? Should I be getting them from AMD instead? Which drivers do I need to download here, which will get downloaded in Windows updates, which do I get elsewhere, and which are bloat? Do you recommend Asus DriverHub?

Why are they offering you AMD drivers? It's an AMD motherboard, it will need AMD chipset drivers.

assuming you’re looking here (the win11 drivers) then the only one i’d recommend skipping would be the Asus AI Advisor under utilities. others may suggest skipping Armoury Crate & Aura Creator Installer as well but i personally don’t have issue with them. the rest of the drivers are relevant to your system. they all need to be installed as windows may install generic versions but they won’t be the proper ones.

You should absolutely update the drivers from: Asus website at first. Asus Driver Hub will download them for you if you have it, no need to go to the Asus website. Windows Update downloads some. GeForce will definitely download the most up-to-date driver for your nVidia gpu. Until then you are using a default Windows gpu driver and will not have the best possible performance. (optional) You can download Driver Booster 12 from iobit.com to download the rest of the drivers for your system.(and just delete it afterwards)
