r/ASUS on Reddit: Can anyone point me towards a list of Q-codes?
April 21, 2024 -

I recently completed a new computer with a StrixX670E-E and, after a short time, it failed to boot and showed a memory error code.

I contacted support, sent it back, and they sent a replacement.

I reassembled my PC and, while it starts, it shows a series of Q-Codes (most appear around memory again) and I am hoping to try and figure out what is going on and, if possible, fix it before it breaks again.

However, I am unable to find a comprehensive list of codes and can only find people talking about them in various forums with generalized and surmised meanings. It would be really nice to have something more official (and which I could use to try and figure out how to diagnose the underlying issue and try and solve it).

Can anyone help me find one?

I actually managed to get it sorted. Turned out I needed to reinstall my CPU + waterblock. More on rog-forum.asus.com

Anyone know what these Asus Q-Codes mean? Several of them aren’t in the motherboard manual. My new build crashed after about 10 hours of using it and won’t boot now.
The 15 means CPU and Memory error. So personally I'd check the CPU pins and if the RAM is properly installed. CC - Invalid CMOS jumper setting code C8 - IDK 14 - Pre-memory CPU initialization is started 15 - Pre-memory System Agent initialization is started Sources: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1043948/ http://www.asusqcodes.com/index.php?inputCode=15 More on reddit.com

Those are not error codes. They are the normal BIOS codes that indicate what stage of the boot, handover and state your motherboard is in. If you look in your user manual you will see each one listed and expanded. Could you tell me which PSU you are using, how old it is? More on rog-forum.asus.com

February 22, 2024 - One such feature that you'll find on the best Asus motherboards is a Q-code LED. It's usually found on some of the more premium motherboards, as opposed to the entry-level or budget options. A Q-code LED, in case you are wondering, essentially displays a two-digit code to denote the status of your PC. It's more of a status indicator than an error code LED, and you may notice it cycling through a bunch of rapidly changing codes before it settles on one as your PC finally boots.

Depending on the number of beeps and the length of the beeps, the code will translate to a different error.
