EDIT: forgot to mention my mobo ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-plus WIFI
Hello, I opened similar post on Intel and it was deleted :D I just want t oshare my observatrions and experience regarding new BIOS 1820 which includes new microcode 0x12F for my MB Asus Prime Z790-P WIFI, CPU I have is Intel i5-14600 KF. Per Intel recommendation I used Performance preference Intel default settings. I run few tests and observed that in comparison to Asus advanced OC profile, there is 4-5% lower overall CPU performance and 8-10° C higher avg temps!Peak temps at max load are even 12-15°C higher...So I went back to Asus profile, I have to mention, I am not doing any overclock, everything just on default. Once back on Asus profile, all temps went much better, and overall performance back by 4-5%. Can someone explain this? I am attaching list of changes made by profile switching. I cannot find any reason for temp increase while lower performance.. Intel default settings are highly recommended by Intel itself but looks like it is literally doing the opposite, frying and shortening life of the CPU.
Last week Intel released a new microcode 0x12F related to Vmin Shift issue on Core 13th and 14th Gen : https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/Intel-Core-13th-and-14th-Gen-Vmin-Shift-Instabilty-Update-New/m-p/1686948.
I didn't find any thread on Reddit talking about it (maybe I didn't search properly ?), which I find surprising.
Anyone tried this new microcode ? Any feedback ?
