Interesting to say the least, but I went in eyes wide open. Last year I put together a living room build, so wireless peripherals and ITX so it could live in the media center and would be easy to carry to the back room where my projector is set up. The CPU cooler choice was what defined the mobo since there weren’t many options that would handle an UV’d 5800x in the 75mm I had available. This sort of limited mobo and ram compatibility so I only had 2 B550 and 1 x570 to choose from. Out of those the 2 B550 had wifi and bluetooth issues reported at the time I was buying, so they ruled themselves out. They were eventually fixed via bios updates but that was months later As for the x570 I knew that the chipset and m2 heatsink thermal paste might be too thin or absent and to replace it with 1.5mm and that was the case: as soon as I took it out of the bag the little thermal pad slid right off. I would have never noticed it if I didn’t know beforehand. Then it came time to updating the bios so it would work with zen 3 without having a pre zen 3 cpu on hand and no ability to do it from USB. It was annoying af to have to buy a used 1600 and sell it later just to do this, but again, I knew going in that I might have to do it so I wasn’t surprised. Asus ROG Strix X570-I Gaming Review | bit-tech.net
December 9, 2019 - Below, you can see that not only is there the usual rear-mounted M.2 port, making a pair of PCIe 4.0/SATA 6Gbps-capable M.2 ports, but Asus has included a large backplate, which cools the rear of the VRMs. There's no software monitoring and with all the heatsink paraphernalia, it is tricky to get an accurate reading, but the surrounding area, top-side heatsink and lower heatsink never topped 50°C. Thankfully, the included 40mm fan here is inaudible more than a few feet away and it does seem to keep things in check - essential for a stuffy mini-ITX case.

Question about ASUS ROG STRIX X570-I mainboard.
The x570 boards were, mostly, released before the proliferation of the USBC header. Whereas the b550 were very very delayed until after. As always, the enthusiast gear gets released first Hence why the b550i has it but the x570i doesn't More on reddit.com

Trying to decide between Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI versus ASUS ROG STRIX X570-I Gaming
I have the Strix x570-I although I initially started building with the Gigabyte; I only returned the Gigabyte because the CPU socket is placed higher and it was questionable whether or not my NH-D15 would fit in my case along with the Chromax covers. I am using both the front and rear NVME slots and both NVMEs (970 Pro/ WD SN750) reach the expected speeds under CrystalDiskMark. I'm going to share some nitpicks that I've noticed with the past month of ownership: The x570 heatsink on this board sits really high and can only use thermal pads, can't be improved upon with straight paste like some ppl have done. That is if you even get a thermal pad lol. Personally I swapped the pad to a 1.0mm FujiPoly Ultra Extreme and would recommend anyone getting this board to do it from the beginning before you even start building. My friend has the Gigabyte x570 and he says he's able to use thermal paste; he says his x570 never goes above 47C but he also has an NCASE M1 so his side rad fans are directly above his x570 heatsink. Even when setting the AIO_PUMP/CHA fan headers to run at a fixed speed, the Asus will run them at 100% if the CPU sensor on the board ever hits 75C. Its like 75C is a hardcoded threshold and the board says OH SHIT. 75C is the highest temp you can set for the end point on your fan curve. The CPU fan step up/step down values don't seem to work at all. If you like RGB, the Asus software can get flagged by games using EasyAntiCheat (like Ubisoft Division 2) and the games won't run. I went through a bunch of clean install/uninstall cycles on the software and somehow ended up getting it to work without Div2 crashing. The front NVME heatsink + thermal pad seems to put a lot of pressure on the NVME, when I installed it the first time it had a ton of flex. I had to move the support standoff to the middle to counter this. I think those are my only annoyances so far. Also consider that Gigabyte RMAs are handled in California and Asus is on the east coast - something to think about if you ever need to RMA your board. More on reddit.com

Great motherboard, its asus rog so I knew it was gonna be good, only gripe is the bios is confusing imo, and the base settings had my cpu clocked at 1.33v causing it to run very hot.

r/sffpc on Reddit: What has been your experience using the ASUS X570-i? Mine has been terrible.
August 21, 2022 -

Okay this might be a bit of a rant but I have been using my Asus X570-i paired with a Ryzen 3600x that I bought around 2 years ago. It is currently water cooled and in the NR200p. I have had multiple issues with this board over the years and sent in for 2 (probably going onto the 3rd) RMAs.

The first one was due to the usb ports on the back of my board not supplying enough power to the keyboard I had plugged in. Keep in mind the keyboard is a Corsair k70 and it has two USB cables, one for power and one for RGB I believe. So I sent it into get RMA through my the retail store I purchased it from. ASJS kindly returned the board with "updated the bios" problem solved. Go home rebuild my pc and what do you know the usb ports still don't work.

A week later I take it back to the store, except this time I bring the entire system and all my peripherals with me as they instructed me to do so over the phone. They run their own diagnostic and confirm the motherboard usb header isn't working and not supplying the correct voltage. So they pack it up for me and ship it over to ASUS. The result of this RMA, "Repaired broken/bent CPU pin connector". I was like okay maybe they've actually fixed the issue, nope. Go back home rebuild and the same issue occurs.

Coming back to the present, I have since done a fresh install of Windows about a month or so ago and everything has been fine. Just accepted that the usb port that I payed $500 (aud) for isn't going to work. I've been using this computer primarily for gaming (low end stuff like counterstrike and Rocket League) and light web development stuff. I've been running into major issues with the computer freezing on me and crashing during Csgo matches about 20-30 mins into the game. So I rebuilt the computer again and nothing changed. My temperatures have also been fine. (roughly 70*c for the CPU under most loads)

I am wondering if anyone else has had this bad of an experience with ASUS boards or am I just unlucky? I have not been impressed with Asus customer service at all and the RMA centre. I don't want to send the board in for RMA as I start uni at the end of October and can't have my board being "repaired" for the next 3 months.

Also my first pc build was with a MSI full ATX board which died basically 6 months after building it. MSI replaced it no questions asked.

Update: Just got my motherboard back from Asus. Sent it in on the 04/09 and got it back today 29/09. Not bad turn around

Resolution: Repaired parts, resoldering, reheat or rewire to solve the problem.

Hopefully once I set it up it will be all good but not very happy with the very vague repair notes.

Odd you've had such a string of motherboard issues, not only the x-570 but also the one before that. How are your power outlets? perhaps your psu is the problem? Could be 'dirty power' (no stable 120/240 60hz/50hz). That could also attribute to crashes, random reboots and other issues you describe?

Overall, given the features of this motherboard, it makes sense why this board is priced at $499, at the time of writing, but due to its size, you’re limited to 64GB of RAM and have fewer expansion options. r/sffpc on Reddit: Question about ASUS ROG STRIX X570-I mainboard.
November 4, 2022 -

Hello, i decided to go for an am4-mini-ITX build for my new pc and it seems only this mainboard provides a decent amount of usb slots + usb-c (at least more than 4 like most of the other ones).

I wanted to pair it with an amd ryzen 7 5800x3d and heard that there might be compatbility problems because of older bios versions and that this board doesnt have a bios flashback-button to update it if it is too old? Cant i update it another way?

Why does the cheaper b550-i from asus have one, but not the x570? Are there no more recent am4 mainboards that are definitly compatible with the 5800x3d?

I would appreciate any help, thank you.
