A few years ago I sold my 2014 Macbook workhorse and built a gaming PC from scratch. It was super easy, and I loved the end product. To this day I still use it and love using windows 10. I was genuinely very happy with switching over to using a PC and wondered why I didn't do it years earlier.
After a year I realized I needed a laptop for work, and from my coworkers experience I had been told that Asus products are quiality. I did some research online and found quite good reviews for the Zenbook OLED. It had a small form factor, beautiful screen, and supposedly amazing battery life. I also loved that it had a touch screen. I decided to pull the trigger and buy one.
I recieved it and upon getting it i realized I had purchased one without a touch screen which was quite annoying but obviously my fault. I think in some parts of the world the touch screen is the only one available, and for some reason where I live you actually can't order this particular one. Either way.
Some of the GOOD things:
It's SO LIGHT. I love how easy it is to carry around, it honesly feels like I'm carrying an iPad.
The storage space of 1TB is fantastic, and the 16gb of ram and processor handle pretty much whatever I throw at it. I've never had any performance issues with the computer at all, I can even run BeamNG at a decent framerate. A similarly spec'd Macbook Air costs more than 600 euros more where I am.
The Screen is beautiful. Watching videos on this screen really makes such a huge difference, when I show my friends drone video projects or DSLR videos I've shot they're always shocked by how nice the quality is.
While the keyboard doesn't look particularly nice, the feedback from the keys, and typing on it feels really nice.
So this is where the good parts end. Now time for all the annoying BAD things. There are a LOT
The speakers. There is a "Sound by Harmon/Kardon" logo just below the arrow keys. Is this a bad joke? The speakers are HOOOOOOORRIBLE. Weak, crackly, ZERO BASS. My phone has better and more quality speakers than these. Words cannot describe how bad these speakers sound. When I listened to them at first I really thought I had some problem with them. Even after messing around with the sound settings they still sound like crap.
Oh, and one of them is completely blown as of last month.
The battery. Trash. I read that you can easily get 10-12 hours out of this. Bullshit. Maybe 4 -5 hours at best. That's not even doing video editing/gaming or anything. This is just browsing reddit or doing online shopping.
Another thing, my battery drains all the time when my computer is closed. I know this problem exists in quite a lot of other PC's but often times it will be very hot when I take it out of my bag.
Occasionally when I take my computer off the charger it won't even turn on and I have to hard reset it.
The webcam, I don't know how they made it this badly. It's such bad quality that windows hello doesn't work on it. The front facing camera on my Galaxy S3 was better.
I'm not sure if all Asus laptops have this, but who's idea was it to fill the F-keys with useless things rather than music controls? Why on earth would I need a dedicated button for Projection/Disable touchpad/Asus support?! These easily could have been in the settings panel.
The body of the laptop is really prone to the paint chipping. Mine is dark blue and there are hundrds of little paint chips falling off all over the place. I hardly ever take my computer out with me and if I do it's in the case that came with my Zenbook.
The trackpad works like shit or not at all frequently. Clicking and dragging is super glitchy and for some reason if it's cold then It doesn't work at all.
I really wish I just returned this and got a Macbook with less storage space for the same money. I'm deeply disappointed in this laptop and I really want to warn any other that are considering this to stay away. This thing is shockingly bad and If anyone has any idea what combination of words I can use to just get my money back i'd be forever grateful.
Thanks for listening to my rant.
Hey guys, I was planning to get the ASUS zenbook 14 Oled laptop for my girlfriend. She is majorly looking for a laptop with good battery life and display. Her use case would be productivity tasks majorly. She works in the field of marketing, so as far as I know, there aren’t any heavy softwares she would be using. If anyone has this laptop, could you please share a short review of the same? Based on the specs, it looks all good, but I’m worried about the “P” processor. Your views would be very helpful. Thank you

I have a Macbook I bought in 2021. It's not dead yet but it's getting that display issue that displays with the Mac touchbar end up getting.
