So I just booted up my pc for the first time without the gpu just to see what it looks like with all the rgb, and I got error code 55. I haven’t installed the gpu yet, so I’m wondering if that could be causing this. I have my ram installed where the manual says to put it, and I’ve tried reinstalling it.

Im using an asus rog z690-e with Corsair 32 gb dominator 5600 mhz. I also have an Intel 13900 installed and Im going to install an msi gaming trio 4090.

I’m not really sure if I should wait until I install the gpu to troubleshoot this more, or if there’s something I should do now. Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated!

I know there are some threads about this error code, but i haven´t found any solution so far. I built a new PC and I am in despair because of this error. Mainboard is showing Error Code 55, which stands for "Memory not installed".

First my Setup:

Case: Phanteks Eclipse P600S Silent
Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z490-E Gaming
CPU: Intel Core i5-10600K
CPU-Cooler: be Quiet! Dark Rock 4 Pro
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3000MHz C16 XMP 2,0 (CMK32GX4M2D3000C16)
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1050 TI
SSD: Samsung MZ-V7S1T0BW 970 EVO Plus 1 TB NVMe M.2

When I boot the system, the mainboard shows the Q-Code 55 and the Q-LED is yellow and I get no signal on monitor. When I boot without RAM, it shows error code 53.

What I´ve tried:

• Reinstalling the RAM

• Trying every single RAM on every slot (RAM 1 on A1, A2, B1, B2, RAM 2 on A1, A2, B1, B2)

• even a new motherboard (also the ASUS ROG STRIX Z490-E Gaming)

• Flashing the bios to Version 14.1.51.1528

• CMOS-Reset

I´m done. I can´t belive that both of the new RAM sticks are broken.

Do you have any idea what the problem can be?

So I just rebuilt my PC to clean and manage wires, and I'm stuck getting the error code "55"(ASUS motherboard). All RAM sticks are properly seated in the slots. Only one slot seems to have the issue. I've got four sticks and four slots, and I'd rather not leave one out.

I bought brand new parts for a custom PC but when I turned it on I got the 55 error debug code.
I did troubleshooting online with people that helped me, giving me things to test to see if I'd be able to run the motherboard in dual channel, but I couldn't make that happen.

I tried things like clearing cmos, checking for pins/contacts, updating firmware/drivers/bios etc all of those things. Eventually I sent it to a 3rd party technician and he told me the motherboard came defective, after doing some of his own testing (software, not swapping parts) he confirmed cpu and ram was fine, but motherboard was damaged. Afterwards I sent the motherboard to the shop I bought it from, and today the technician called me and said I damaged the motherboard by overtightening the cpu cooler, that there was visible damage to the copper trails. This is likely to have happened, but online I noticed A1 and A2 were the problematic dimm slots, just like me, only B1 and B2 booting properly. The parts are 13900K, ROG Strix Z790-E Gaming Wifi and 6000 Corsair DDR5. Has anyone else encountered the same issue as me? If you solved it, how did you solve it ? If you did RMA, how did things go? Did you get a replacement from ASUS ?

My build includes:

1. i9-13900K CPU

2. Nvidia RTX 4080 GPU

3. Asus ROG Z790-E STRIX mobo

4. PSU RM1000X

5. Corsair Dominator 16GB x2 6200MHz DDR5 RAM

Trust me, I looked up EVERYTHING on the Internet possible to figure out why I am getting error code 55 with the yellow DRAM light on. I have cleared the CMOS, updated BIOS, and reseated and isolated the compatible RAM to no avail. Sometimes, it lets me into the BIOS with 1 stick of RAM, but when I take it out and reseat it, it goes right back to error code 55. I have also made sure that this RAM is approved with my motherboard per ASUS’s website. I want to mention that when it does take me to BIOS, everything is displayed as if the PC were fully functional.

I need a straight up HERO to help me figure this out before I have to take everything apart and send the mobo back to ASUS. Thank you!
