I was updating to Windows 10 Anniversary Edition when my power went. When I tried to power up the next morning, the computer wouldn't even get to bios before shutting down automatically. The Q-Code gets stuck at 33 before the crash though. I used bios flashback, but there is no effect. I took out the RAM and replugged, and did the same for the graphics card. I unplugged all sata devices as well to no avail. I unplugged all the RAM to get stuck at a new error code of 53. I also tested if switching RAM slots would change anything which it didn't. The Q-Code is still currently stuck at 53. I also tried clearing RTC RAM by moving the jumper caps as well as reinstalling the button cell battery. Nothing has worked yet.
If anyone can help resolve the issue without needing to replace the mobo it would be great.
I'm hoping I didn't brick the motherboard. :P
Thanks!!
I just had an ASUS get stuck on Q code 33. Apparently, there was a power outage while I was out. Found this thread, and was dreading having to open everything up and start troubleshooting. I was seeing the ASUS logo, so I went into the BIOS and snooped around.
I noticed that the boot order was all messed up. Boot #1 was some UEFI thing. My SSD was all the way at the bottom. I made it the first option, and it came back up.
No idea how it got changed by a power outage. I certainly didn't do it.
Hopefully this will help someone who stumbles on this thread.

March 7, 2024 - Hi I have a new build PC, specs are as follows: AMD Ryzen 7 2700x - Stock Wraith Prism Cooler ASUS Crosshair VII Hero (Wi-fi) G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2x8GB 3200MHz Samsung 970 Pro NVMe SSD ASUS STRIX 1050Ti Seasonic FOCUS Gold Plus 650w I noticed a couple of issue with the build. The first was that when booting for the first time it takes about 30 seconds before I see the ROG logo to get into the BIOS. When i restart the computer it's fine but on a cold boot it takes about 30 seconds. The second is that I have a Q-Code 33 on the motherboard.

I had the same error when finally yielding and installing the fall creator's update. Luckily I saw the message regarding boot order prior to breadboarding.
I can confirm that installing windows updates appear to make a mess of BIOS settings (Rampage V Extreme)
