Just "built" my first pc (changed motherboard and cpu) and when i try to turn it on the screen turns on, the dram, vga and cpu lights blink, but the boot one stays on. Its an asus b550m plus. From what i read, this means the issue is in booting. Even worse, the bios is not even showing up, so i cant access bios settings. Tried recconecting my ssd, changing the ram, and nothing. What to do?

Thank you for choosing ASUS. I understand you're encountering an issue with your TUF Gaming B550M-PLUS motherboard where the system powers on, but the BOOT Q-LED remains lit, and the BIOS screen does not appear. Let's work through this step-by-step to identify and resolve the problem. 1. Please ensure that all components are properly connected: CPU: Confirm the CPU is installed correctly and that there are no bent pins.RAM: Verify the memory sticks are securely installed. For dual-channel, use the A2 and B2 DIMM slots as recommended in the user manual.SSD: Recheck the SSD connection. If using an M.2 drive, ensure it is properly seated and screwed into place. 2. Clear CMOS: To reset your BIOS settings, clear the CMOS by following these steps: turn off the system and unplug the power supply. Locate the CMOS jumper on your motherboard or remove the CMOS battery for 2–3 minutes. Reinsert the battery (if removed) or return the jumper to its default position and power on the system. 3. BIOS Version Compatibility: If you're using a newer AMD Ryzen CPU (e.g., Ryzen 5000 series), the motherboard may require a BIOS update to support it. Use the BIOS Flashback feature as follows: Download the latest BIOS version for your motherboard from the ASUS Support page. Rename the file as per the instructions on the website. Save it onto a USB drive formatted to FAT32.Connect the USB drive to the designated BIOS Flashback USB port.Press the BIOS Flashback button until it begins to flash. Wait for the process to complete. 4. Test with Minimal Configuration:Power on the system with only the essential components installed:CPU and cooler. One stick of RAM in the A2 slot. GPU or integrated graphics (if your CPU supports it).Disconnect all storage devices and peripherals to isolate the issue. 5. Monitor Connections: Ensure your monitor is connected to the correct output port: If using a dedicated GPU, connect the monitor to the GPU’s output. If using integrated graphics, connect the monitor to the motherboard’s output. 6. Inspect Q-LED Indicators: The Q-LED diagnostic lights are helpful for identifying issues: If the BOOT light remains on, the issue is typically related to your storage drive or BIOS settings. Ensure your boot drive has a working operating system installed. 7. Power Supply Unit (PSU):Confirm that your PSU meets the power requirements of your system. If possible, test the system with another PSU to rule out power delivery issues.
If the problem persists after following these steps, please provide us with additional details about your CPU, RAM, storage devices, and GPU. This information will help us offer further assistance. Thank you for contacting ASUS Support. We look forward to resolving your issue promptly.
I just installed a new ASUS motherboard and AMD CPU to my existing PC and updated the BIOS to the latest version 3057. My hard drives (one of which has Windows installed and both were working fine with my old motherboard) are not showing up on the boot priority list but are recognized by the BIOS. I have tried going into the advanced settings and enabling the Boot\CSM setting but it is greyed out and will not let me toggle it. Has anyone else run into this problem? Or have any idea how to get it to boot from my hard drive? I of course did not back anything up and would prefer not to wipe the hard drive and do a fresh install.
Hola
First off, apologies if I’m going about posting this the wrong way or if there’s a better category for it somewhere else. I’m not that familiar with Reddit.
My Specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x Mobo: ASUS Rog Strix B550-A Ram: CORSAIR Vengeance 16gb 3600mHz
My Problem: My brother and I set up my first build yesterday and all was going smoothly until we went into the BIOS. I previously asked on this subreddit about my ram’s speed being too fast over my motherboards speed, but was reassured that can be fixed by enabling DOCP in BIOS and setting the speed to 3200mHz (what the motherboard could run to w/o overclocking). So we followed this YouTube tutorial (https://youtu.be/xvX6Rk4eNz8 and https://youtu.be/WDzrq5IxBX4) and seemingly succeeded in adjusting my ram’s speed. But the next time we powered down the computer and turned it back on, it wouldn’t let us boot past the Republic of Gamers logo screen with “Please press DEL or F2 to enter UEFI BIOS settings” at the bottom. Now we can’t get back into the BIOS.
No OS has been installed on my computer yet.
Things we’ve tried:
Removing the motherboards battery to reset the CMOS
Reseating the ram in the 4th slot, removing it and only running the computer with the ram in the 2nd slot, removing the original ram from the 2nd slot and moving what was the 4th slot ram to the 2nd slot
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Was so excited about my first build :(
