ASUS Prime X570-P, S-AM4 - Unclear manual?
Just looked at the manual for my TUF X570, and language is largely the same. It could be clearer, stating that you need one of the options for A PLUS B, not A OR B, but at the same time, when in doubt, always use the big connector :) More on reddit.com

August 16, 2019Dear Prime x570-p owners, do you also have problems with the latest BIOS version (4204)?
Yes, I have had lots of issues with the current bios. I am currently downgrading to 4021 to see if that fixes the issue. I am running an AMD 3600X with NVIDIA 2080 and getting random BSODs since the update. I also cannot restart without a BSOD. I have to do a full shutdown first. Super annoying. More on reddit.com

March 29, 2022Help replacing/upgrade Asus prime x570p mobo. Audio Workstation build.
Stick with X570 if you want to keep using your AM4 CPU, there's no newer chipset that will support a 3900. If you have an Asus Thunderbolt card, you'll need another Asus mobo for it. There is B550 that's cheaper though. More on reddit.com

So I just built my first PC, using the Ryzen 3600x and ASUS Prime X570-P motherboard. However, I did not get the setup to POST after many tries and reading the manual over and over. I ended up returning the motherboard to the retailer since I arrived at the conclusion it must be dead. Now they have looked at it and it boots perfectly. The problem appeared to be that I only used a 24-pin PSU connector and not the 24-pin + 8-pin. From the manual, both me and my father who worked on the build agreed on us having the two options:
-
A) 4pin + 8pin
-
B) 24pin
I now understand most modern processors require the 8-pin, but still cannot understand how this can be so unclear in the manual? Or am I just a bad reader? I don't have any previous experience of building computers, so I definitely am a beginner in all this. Does anyone else agree on this being unclear in the manual or is this considered "common sense"?
