ASUS Prime X570-Pro Review - Power Consumption & Temperatures | TechPowerUp
ASUS Prime X570-Pro
One probe directly touches the chipset and two are placed on select power stages. The last probe actively logs the ambient temperature. For the ASUS Prime X570-Pro, one is in the center of the left bank Vcore and another on the top Vcore next to the SOC power stages. The Prime X570-Pro from ASUS may not have every bell and whistle, but with a powerful VRM, integrated I/O shield, and relatively competitive price, it promises a ticket to the new X570 platform that won't break the bank.

r/ASUS on Reddit: How good is ASUS PRIME X570p? [DISCUSSION]
June 29, 2020 -

I wanna get that motherboard, considering its more future proof, atm its way cheaper than all x570 and readily available.

Should I get it? Im currently using a ryzen 5 3600 on an a320m-k

I want to get an aio later on and more ram, what if my ram modules do not appear on the qvl of this motherboard? Are almost all of them compatible? Or have you run into any problems with ram modules?

Also Ive got a rather long gpu and it may block the chipset fan, will the hot air from my gpu warm it up?

I bought this board when it first came out, and it was going for around $170 USD at the time and was one of several possible entry-level X570 motherboards. It's very lacking in terms of extra features, but at its price point it had the best power delivery by far out of any of the entry-level X570 motherboards. However, I've owned two of these motherboards and they both have an issue which was why I RMA'd the first one and replaced it with the one I currently use. If you're aware of the possible issue and its solution, it's not too much of a problem, more of just a minor inconvenience at times, but basically anytime you reset or update the BIOS, you will have to unplug all SATA devices on the first boot afterwards, go into the BIOS, save whatever its current settings are, then turn the computer off, plug the SATA devices back in, and boot it back up. Otherwise, it will simply freeze when POSTing. The power delivery on this motherboard is quite solid, though, so it's a nice motherboard if you plan to do any mild overclocking and have use for the X570 chipset, otherwise I would look into the new B550 motherboards. The VRMs stay somewhere around only 65c with my 3900X chugging 180W of power draw under stress tests. As for the RAM, I haven't had any issues with 4 sticks of 16CAS 3200MT/s Hynix-AFR populating all the slots. Just be aware that if you're only running two DIMMs, I think it prefers the 2nd and 4th slots from the CPU populated (but you'll want to doublecheck that in the manual, 'cause I can't remember exactly, and it will severely limit your RAM speed if you get it wrong). My GPU does block the fan on the chipset (an EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 - I call it 'Big Chungus' for short), but I doubt it's much of an issue, especially since nothing in my computer uses PCI-E 4.0. I haven't noticed any excessive noise from the chipset fan or anything like that.

I have 2 sata hdds connected on mine (non-boot drives) and never experienced any issues posting. And I reseted the bios a shitload of times.

[MOBO] ASUS Prime X570-P - $127.50

Some things to be aware of as I have the Mobo as well.

Depending on the size of your video card it will cover the chipset fan (PCH)

The IO Shield is of cheap Quality.

Be sure to update to the latest BIOS.

I've heard that it has issues at posting at times, from other people. If that happens just turn off the computer and reseat the CMOS Battery.

All in all it's a great X570 Mobo for the price.

I am going to use the processor below. What power supply should i get to power the board? I have a 750watt power supply right now and not sure if i need a bigger one.  AMD RYZEN 9 3900X 12-Core 3.8 GHz
If you're using a single GPU, that should be plenty. If you have a high quality PSU, then you could probably get by with less. I'm using a nearly 10 year old EarthWatts 750W, which is 80 PLUS Certified. A second GPU will have the lion's share of impact on your PSU. Will the M.2_1 location below the GPU slot cause clearance issues with large SSD heatsinks? And if it does fit, is that an airflow/thermal concern?
Hello, The height clearance from the pins of a GPU to where the shroud normally starts is about a little less than an inch, so the SSD might be a little too close for comfort (especially with a heatsink attached). As far as airflow and thermals go, I think as long as you have good intake airflow from the front of your case, it should be enough to passively cool the SSD. With that being said, you might also get some passive heat from the GPU because of how close it is to the M.2 slot, but I think monitoring the temps yourself will give you a better idea of how well it performs as well as how

will this run second gen ryzen processors?
Don't buy this for anything less than a 3000 series six core. 1000 and 2000 series don't support PCIe 4.0. This board is intended for processors that do. Future graphics cards will need the bandwidth to keep up with higher frame rates and resolutions. Its a great motherboard with a 3000 series processor and 5600 or 5700 video card.

The Prime X570-P comes with what is advertised as a 12+2 phases VRM. Obviously it is not the case, but it is not all bad! We are dealing with 4 trues phases organized in pairs. Of course, graphics cards will eventually catch up as well, so for the discerning gamer who only upgrades every three to five years, the new standard could prove a good investment. A good board otherwise. ... Very reliable for its price tag. Used both the 3700x and a 5600 with great ease. BIOS are kind of dated, and Asus Aura Sync also sucks, but these are minor things in the grander scheme of things.
