r/ASUS on Reddit: [SUPPORT] MOBO NO BOOT, NO QLED LIGHTS TURN ON
August 5, 2020 - I am getting a new one, too ... I have exact same mobo as you. Yesterday screen turned black and it never wanted to start again. When I start it, the fans spin but there is no display or USB power. I stripped down everything (expect CPU) : QLED does not report anything (it should popup since memory / storage are absent). It's dead. PSU is fine (tested with multimeter). It lasted 4 years which is not a lot comparing to previous Asus ...

Q LED is not on ASUS B450i, how to debug? - PCPartPicker
Technically the Q-LED should show a meaningful light even if you don't have anything at all installed on the board except the power connector. Weird that fans are spinning and lights are lighting, yet the Q-LED is doing nothing. Hopefully someone with more hands-on experience with Asus boards can help.

I have No CPU, No memory & No GPU installed.

I have power to ATX_PWR & ATX_12V_1&2

Am I correct in assuming that if I short the PWR_BTN then one of the QLED lights would illuminate and therefore the issue is a dead motherboard. (I have multiple PSU's and still get no lights)

My issue is with a brand new ASUS B760M-PLUS but are these assumptions correct with all new ASUS motherboards ?

I've built a new PC using an ASUS Z890 AYW Gaming WiFi W motherboard and 265K CPU (Microcenter bundle). No other components (no storage installed yet and no graphics card since I'm planning to use the iGPU). A monitor is connected using the motherboard's DisplayPort.

After putting everything together and turning it on, the fans come on and the Q-LEDs show this sequence:

  • CPU (red) turns on for a second and then off

  • DRAM (yellow) turns on for a second and then off

That's it. The VGA LED (white) and boot combination (yellow/green) never turn on. The monitor doesn't detect a video signal. Anyone know what that could mean?

I have so far reseated the power connectors for motherboard and CPU, and cleared the CMOS RAM using a jumper. I inspected the CPU socket before I installation and it looked OK.

Update in case someone finds this post later: it was the memory. I used a DDR5 memory kit from Teamgroup, which ran fine in the previous AMD-based system. But it's apparently not compatible with Z890 boards. I swapped it for a Crucial kit from another computer and now it runs fine (and so does the other computer with the Teamgroup kit).

July 18, 2025 -

Hello everyone! My PC just now wont boot up, and is seemingly stuck on the boot led as my power button flashes on and off every 4-5 seconds. Everything seems to be on inside my pc, and peripherals turn on just like normal, but the display shows no signal. My GPU seems to be on, but as the video shows the fans are not spinning. I’ve tried reseating RAM, cmos and gpu, but with no luck. Dont know if this is helpful, but power button led stays fully on when ram is removed

Troubleshoot ASUS motherboard with Q-LED indicators
December 15, 2023 - If the red LED is flashing on the motherboard, it means that there is an issue with the hardware the LED is associated with. The method to reset CMOS is the same for all desktop computers and laptops, including the ASUS PC. Removing the CMOS battery also resets or clears the CMOS. Open your computer case and remove the CMOS battery. Wait for 1 minute and reinstall the battery. Read next: MSI monitor not turning on or displaying anything.

Hey everyone. I have an Asus X670E logic board. when I try and power on I get no power. the RGB on my RAM lights up and the power switch on the board lights up so does the red led on my 4090. the PSU fan does not turn on at all. I tried power on with nothing plugged in and the same thing. I had a spare 450w PSU that should power at least the board and CPU fan but same thing.

I am assuming it is a dead board but I'm not sure.
