Hi!
I'm building a new pc with the following specs:
CPU: Ryzen 9 5950X MOBO: Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wifi GPU: Asus Strix 3090 OC PSU: Corsair HX1200i RAM: GSkill Tridenz Z Neo 64GB(4x16) 3600MHz CL16 (16-19-19-39 Hynix die)
Everything seems to be working as expected, windows installed etc. The issue is when I cold boot my pc for the first time of the day I get a 00 post code that remains like that until i hard reboot the machine for a couple times. I have tried to update the bios, clearing cmos and checking the cpu mount. I also have a custom sleeved cablemod kit for the psu if that says anything.
For example, this morning, the postcode stuck on 00 until I moved the case so I guess it could be related for some connection, but i plugged/unplugged eveything a hundred times with no luck.
Tried to leave the pc off disconnected from the psu for a couple hours but it seems to only happen when it's off for more than 6h so it's slow to troubleshoot. Any advise, or should I RMA the motherboard right now?
Thanks in advance!
Hi i was building my pc and when putting everything together the pc wouldnt boot up for the first time just lights and fans and theres a solid light on next to the dram (orange ish) on the qled. I thought it was a ram problem so i tried it on my brothers system but that worked on his so i know it wasnt ram not functioning. I decided to try them each one at a time and then in either slot and still nothing ive checked to see if the ram is compatible CMT16GX4M2C3600C18 and asus says it is.i presed the clear cmos and reset button on the motherboard too to no avail. I have tried using hdmi instead of dp direct from the gpu but no signal still and due to the parts shortage issue i will probably struggle to get a replacement as i am now 9 days over scan uk's replacement period as itt took so long to get my gpu and cpu that i settled for a 3060ti and 5600x and i know that the cpu can definitely support my ram oc speed
Any help would be greatly appreciated before i try and battle for a replacement.
Good stuff. Been there. I built the whole PC. Switch it on. Just a few LEDs, beeps and nothing. I as was such a newbie then, I took PC to local computer fare to see if anyone could help, no one did. Eventually found a post of the forums on how to flash the Bios, so bought a cheap dvd writer, burned the Bios to CD-R, nothing comes up on screen during the process, I see a new green light on the mobo come up, then nothing for a few minutes then a yellow light flashes and system speaker is making the beeping noise. At this point I started crying because I was convinced the I had broken all of it. Instead of pressing power off button pressed by accident and it actually posted...while was walking away, no operating system found was on the screen. I did not actually realise it has posted as I thought it was reading from the disk, yep, took me a while before I actually realised I had a bios screen😬
Dram issue. Think it could be the dimm slots, not the ram sticks. Motherboard actual board issue. You could try bios flash back to the latest bios and see if that does anything.

I am running into an issue where I can get into the bios, all my hardware is recognized but when I go to install windows and it reaches the end, before it reboots the PC ramps the fans up and gives me the Q-Code 00.
I have reseated most of the cables, adjusted the fans to make sure they don't have weird bends, and even taken a stick of ram out. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas? (And please let me know if there is any info I missed)
EDIT: I was able to boot into windows (installed successfully), it will be fine for 10-20 minutes and then I get the DRAM orange light is lighting up and I'm getting Q-code 00. I did try running them at stock (2133mhz, they work at this) but I am confused why they wont work at the XMP profile speed (3200mhz).
UPDATE (March 5, 2021): Per u/TDD_R recommendation I raised the SOC voltage to 1.025V, reset the ram to 3200mhz and so far it has been stable. Going to try with another set of ram to ensure it isn't the ram. (ram was 2 years old already when it went into my system)
Hey there team,
My ASUS Crosshair VIII Formula won't post with code 02 all the time after getting HDD Code 02 then displays HDD symbol with Code 02: CMOS Error.
Tried clearing the CMOS, no luck
I have used bios flashback to latest bios on the website, as I'm installing a 5000 series Ryzen and a RTX 3090.
I've removed the hard drive, no change. Checked all PSU cables, they seem to be fine.
HDMI cable isn't faulty. I'm using my current PC Monitor and it works fine.
Initially had CPU Fan error when putting in AIO but then put in air cooler, that went away but still the same error after clearing CMOS and flashing bios again.
Any tips?
Cheers
