Two very strange issues with my ROG CROSSHAIR X870E HERO
Problem nr2 might have been caused by Windows lighting..still trying but that might have caused it. Regarding Bluetooth i can't make it work. Everything seems to work driver wise and no error or anything but it barely find any device. I see it once or twice show something in the list that i don't recognize and can connect to....maybe its early search before it get proper description... I have turned off wifi in bios so maybe that could be causing it to function worse? I tryi to find what chip this is and i can't even get that from asus or even mediatek...i only find combo chip. And there is no other driver there or anything. So little info about the hardware and details about it. More on reddit.com

Ok so this is not really shown anywhere online on how to install a big heavy GPU into the Asus ROG Crosshair X870E Hero with the terrible PCIE lane metal problem. Even though I got one from March 2025 it is not the revised model. How do I install my GPU without getting the terrible damage that people have been getting? I do not trust the motherboard and I am really considering immediately returning it as defective by design. But that is a massive hassle so I would love to know how to properly do it.

December 10, 2025 - The M.2 slots on the ROG Crosshair X870E Hero all seem to be wired using the CPU's PCI-E lanes. The 9950X3D provides 28 lanes, 4 of which are used with the chipset. It's not obvious why the board doesn't permit X16 for the GPU slot, plus two X4 M.2 slots. The MSI Mag X870E Tomahawk WiFi seems to have two M.2 slots off the CPU.

November 28, 2024 - To get PCIEx16_1 to run at the full x16 speed you can only install and NVME drive in the top slot. If you add a NVME drive to ether M.2_2 or M.2_3 it will take lanes away from the PCIEx16_1 slot.

Hi,
So i have just built a new pc with this motherboard: ROG CROSSHAIR X870E HERO
I have so far after 2 weeks found two issues.
-
My Bluetooth refuses to connect or even hardly find anything! Recorded it while i was also using the laptop to search for my S24 Ultra + my Boss Headset.

2) during gaming all of the sudden the Lighing effect for my fans change. Its always the same lighting where 7 out of 10 fans change their lighting effect and the remaining 3 go dark.

At the end of the video i re-apply my current setting in L-Connect (Lian Li's software for fans) so it goes back to how it was before i started playing. Tested in both Diablo4 and Path of Excile 2 so its not specific to one game.
I also had issue with a usb connection on the motherboard for the fan controller box where all the fans are connected to. Got an error in windows saying something is wrong with the usb port. And sure enough when i change to another port on the motherboard it started to work again. So i'm more and more thinking i got a bad motherboard but not 100% yet...
Thoughts?

Anyone have tips for the Bluetooth issue? can't make it work sadly. Tried re-installing, updating all fimware and software on a newly installed windows.
