ROG Strix X570-E Gaming update via USB BIOS FlashBack and motherboard power
You have to connect CPU power 8-pin also (at least that's what MSI wants you to do). These instructions should be on Asus' website, and video tutorials on YouTube. As far as which BIOS supports 5000-series, you just have to read the update notes for each BIOS. Or head over to Asus' sub or their forum. You would have gotten more answers on an Asus forum instead of here. Good luck.

Hi I'm new to the forum, I will soon get the ROG Strix X570-E Gaming motherboard that I will use with a Ryzen 7 5800x.
I will have to update the BIOS via the flash button on the back of the motherboard and so far ok, I know how.
2 questions:
- Can I run the BIOS update without CPU via flash button by connecting the motherboard ONLY to the 24 pin cable of the power supply? (i.e. just connect that power source to update the BIOS or do I have to connect the 4 + 4 pin CPU cable too?), this is because I would like to run the BIOS update before mounting the motherboard in the case. Thanks
- Is the penultimate version available 3001 dated 08/12/2020 ok for ryzen 5000?

Ryzen 7 5800X (Vermeer) (3.8GHz,105W,L3:32M,8C) ALL 2606
you need at least bios 2606 for the 5800x
Downloaded the newest BIOS update v5044 via the Asus website.
Formatted the thumb drive to FAT32.
Extracted the CAP file to a temp folder.
Changed the file name per the instructions.
Loaded the file onto a 4GB thumb drive.
Reboot.
Press DEL.
Navigate to tools submenu at the top of the page, click on EZ flash update utility, click to locate the CAP file to update the BIOS. However, there is no CAP file located on the thumb drive even though I can see the file within file explorer.
Latest bios finally has been released on their site, haven't tested Destiny 2 but now it works with newer linux distros that previously didn't run.

Today Asus has released a new BIOS update. Has anyone tried it? Should we update from 2407? There is no info about the update on the website.

Commenting to follow. I didn’t do the last one either, my PC runs great, not sure what these last two have done for actual improvements or if it’s updates for compatibility with newer hardware
Really wish they'd document these new BIOS updates a little better. I'm still on 1408 because I've seen no compelling reason to update, and plenty of reasons not to.
So ASUS is gone crazy updating this bios on daily basis now :D

Changelog:

What is not been told:
- BCLK clock can now be changed in 0.0625MHz steps.
- New option in the AiTweaker "CPU and SOC Current Telemetry". (This should address somehow the Power Reporting Deviation in HWInfo but i have no idea which values to enter)
- The "CPPC Preferred Cores" and "TSME" options are now enabled in the CBS.
