Hello everyone,
I've been looking everywhere to find out the generations of PCIe on my M.2 slots. From what I find there's conflicting info everywhere, even in the official ASUS page. Some places say one of the lanes is PCIe 4.0 and the other 3.0, while other sources say 2 x 4.0 while some sources also say it depends on your amd cpu gen, I have gen 3 so according to them they would both be PCIe 4.0.
Problem is I'm looking into buying a second m.2 nvme and I'm currently looking at a PCIe 4.0 one. But I just can't find for sure whether my mobo supports a second 4.0 M.2.
Does anyone here know?
Thanks everyone
Edit: this is what I find on ASUS page which I don't fully understand:

In the middle of my current build and am having trouble determining which of the two m2 slots on this mobo is the pcie gen 4 slot. I have an nvme 4.0 drive and want to make sure I am taking advantage of it. I checked all the documentation and manual and it doesnt seem to specifiy which is which. Can anyone help?
Hello
I will upgrade my build removing all my sata SSDs and adding 3 M.2 NVME Kingston KC2500 1TB.
My motherboard is a ROG-Strix-X570-E-Gaming and I have an Ryzen 9 3900x on it.
My question is: With 2 M.2 NVME on their respective sockets (there is 2 sockets on this board) and with another one on the pci express x4 (using an adapter), my 2080TI will still work at 16x or it will be chopped down at 8x? (Sorry about any english mistakes)
Thank you! I really appreciate any help on this.
Hello fellas!
I'm planning to upgrade storing for my PC and a bit confused with sharing bandwidth speed between 2 m.2 slots.
It states:
PCIe x1 (2) v4.0 (2nd shared with PCIe x16-3)
Currently I'm using Samsung 970 EVO plus nvme in slot 1 and wanted to add one more drive for slot 2.
Is it worth a shot to use also nvme drive or if the speeds are limited I can save some money for regular sata3 m.2 SSD?

I have the WD SN850 connected in the top m.2 slot & the XPG Spectrix S40G in the bottom m.2 slot. It is advertised on the ASUS product page for my mobo that both m.2 slots are Gen 4.0. Will connecting a Gen 4.0 NVME in the bottom m.2 give me the same performance as in the top m.2 slot ?

Hi, I'm Upgrading my CPU and Motherboard with ASUS ROG Strix X570-E and AMD Ryzen 5 5600x.
Need advise if below setup for M.2 SSD is possible for this Motherboard.
Boot Drive : Samsung 860 EVO 500GB SATA M.2 - connect to 1st M.2 slot (from my old PC)
Samsung 970 EVO SSD 500GB - M.2 NVMe - connect to 2nd M.2 slot
I also have 2 HDD which will be connect in SATA ports and 5700xt GPU (from my old PC) to go with this setup.
Will this setup work? Is there any setups or config in bios to make this work?
Thanks in advance for the help!
On Premiumbuilds the XXX is listed as having 2x PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots. I'd like to purchase 2 SSDs for the slots, but I dont really know what this means. On PCparpicker, the PCIe and M2 drives are separate - do I buy a PCIe SSD, or M2? And if I get M2, what do the numbers after M2 mean ( 22110/22802242/2260)?
I am assuming that is their size, 22mm across, and the rest is length. Does this matter with this Motherboard?
Thanks in advance. Sorry - this is the second time I've ever built a PC.
