Hi all, PC noob here. I have a 2 TB HDD which now fills up so quickly with things like Marvel Rivals being 80GB, Hell Divers... etc.
I live in a flat and my internet is not fantastic and I'm getting really tired of installing and uninstalling games to play with friends as it often takes a long time if it's a big game.
Can anyone recommend any tried and tested SSDs for my motherboard? I would also like to do a fresh install of windows onto the new SSD and just start again, using my HDD for heavier games and other media.
Many thanks! :)

Hello
I have bought a 5800x and have looked at so many charts and threads about mobo, but I need an advice which mobo to buy!
Asus has a cashback in my county, which make it possible for me to buy a ASUS ROG STRIX X570-F for 230 euro.
To compare a ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E would cost 270 euro.
I have also looked at the cheaper Gigabyte elite which would cost 200 euro.
In future I expect to buy a gen4 nvme and I don't need wifi. I wont be spending lots of time on OC, only if needed.
RAM will be G.Skill Tailors New Trident Z 3600mhz CL16.
I have only looked at x570, but after my research, I am wondering if I should just go for a b550.
I am ready to spend around 300 euro.
The question is actually quite misleading just because I couldn't actually explain it properly without making it too long, but my real question is, should I get the Asus Rog Strix x570 f gaming motherboard over the one that I was gonna get which was the Asus Rog Strix x470 f gaming motherboard? Here are the rest of the PC specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x
GPU: Asus Rog Strix 2070 Super 8GB OC, (has PCIe 3.0 not 4.0, so I guess not an advantage to the new 4.0 on the x570 f gaming)
Memory: 3600MHz CL16 from G.Skill
Storage: 250GB NVMe M.2 SSD from Samsung, and a 120GB SSD from ADATA
PSU: Corsair HX750 Platinum
Please leave your thoughts, will really help in making my final decision, thank you for reading :)
Hey all,
I'm planning on building my second PC and I had a few questions regarding the motherboard.
I'm hoping to get the new Ryzen 7 5800X and (if I can snag one) a RTX 3070, along with a NVMe PCI-4 SSD. My question is, is there a huge difference between the two boards? The price difference for me is around $100 AUD. Money isn't a huge factor to me, but if there are features on the x570 that I may not even use I'd rather save the money.
Thanks for reading, and help is appreciated.
Hey guys
I changed my power suply from a corsair cv550 toa hx1500 and now my pc doesnt boot.via button. I already tried using the screwdriver but nothing happens. Tried without ram installed Without cpu connected Any suggestions?
This is my first AMD build for my personal use since 2008 when I switched to wolf dale and never looked back. I have serviced and made some PC's for friends and customers using first gen ryzen and bulldozer. I had the worst experience early adopting Skylake but I trucked through and finally decided to upgrade to Ryzen for streaming, editing content, and obviously to game! I have been tinkering around and noticed not alot of Asus x570 results were posted so without further delay lets get into where I dialed in with my chip/mobo!
First off the specs:
CPU: 3700x (obvi) cooled by an x62
Case: NZXT h700
MOBO: Asus Strix-F x570 (bios Version 7010 Windows 1903 July 30th chipset drivers)
Memory: g.skill ripjaw V 3600 CL19...40 (DOCP loaded first try no problems. The only thing I haven't tweaked was timings, cause latency might get me 4 fps per game but will take 100 years to trouble shoot. I will prolly get bored and still tighten em in the future right now I just wanna enjoy my rig)
PSU: Corsair HX750 plat
SSD: 1TB patriot viper nvme, 2TB 660p Intel NVME (games I dont play as often and media/content storage) [SIDENOTE for patriot viper owners/buyers you will need to dremel the chipset shroud if you want to cover your x570 and keep this nvme)
GPU: ROG STRIX GTX 1080Ti OC
OK! On to my results.
With 1.41ish Volts manually set, I was able to get 4.34ish all core very stable. I could not get 4.4+ without 1.48V. The gains as everyone has mentioned wasn't worth the heat and volts. The manual OC whilst slightly better overall results still seems way to power hungry at this stage of 2nd gen ryzens infancy. Which led me to tinker with auto settings and PBO.
I DID NOT USE MASTER.
I hate that program, Ive heard, read, and watched that its been improved but it just seems like too much fluff and I prefer bios tweaking cause I am just old school like that.
I set my PBO to +200 and per robs voltage post, I set my power plan to balanced and my mobos VCore to auto. FCLK to 1800 (docp set it to 1600)
This is my favorite configuration thus far.
My clock speeds are 4.29~Ghz (havent seen temps over 60C after hours of csgo/apex) during gaming load and stress test /premier 4.175~ Ghz (75C max load, one time I hit 78C but it went down, so Im not sure about that outlier)
With my current bios/driver combo and power plan balanced I also noticed my idles are more stable getting to as low as .8v currently 1-.9 as I type this. My idle temps are 30-34 C
Random final result, 3 of my cores like going to 4.37~ from time to time for slightly sustained moments in Apex (almost never in CSGO however)
I game at 1440p so the small tweaks really garner no real bump in fps. I am a happy camper and if AMD releases more tweaks in the future it will only get better. I also jump to team red for the option to easily upgrade down the road, I figure it will be at the end of AM4's life ( I will just buy whatever flagship is on sale at that point)
TLDR
My ryzen go 4.3 with auto volts hitting no more 1.46~ on PBO OC. It no get hot. I like it. The end.
What's your experience with the chipset fan? Has Asus implemented the ability to control it yet and how is the noise from it?
Quick question, what temps do you get with the X62 on auto voltages / PBO enabled with a few Cinebench 20 / Prime95 small FFT's / Handbrake doing an encoding run?
I'm running a x62 / 3700x as well but on a X370 board (Crosshair VI Hero). I'm trying to figure if my X62 is still working fine. I'm getting 80-85c with Cinebench & Handbrake, 95c with Prime95. Similar temps as yours in gaming. Thermal paste application is good.
Hello.
I'm going to assemble a computer and I have two motherboards, I have to choose one.
- Asus rog x570-e (310€)
- Asus rog x570-f (210€)
I would like to know if I need Asus x570-e for the VRM. The connectivity of x570-f, is enough for me.
The components are: 5900x, 3080ti, g.skill 3600cl16, ssd nvme m2. cpu cooler, deepcool assassin III
I plan to overclock with these components, I don't want x570-f VRM to be the limiting factor of the computer.
The difference is 100 euros, but since its sale its a 50 euro more for x570. what is best?
Before buying my parts I saw a lot of posts here regarding the UEFI and Bios and people saying things were faulty with out the update. I havent experienced that yet so I am wondering if the necessity is there especially as I start to learn and over clock my chip.
Hi everyone, a friend of mine gave me a ROG Strix X570-F. He also has a processor he's giving me too, TBD. I also got a GTX 660. What's your thought on building on this?? I need to get myself RAM, PSU, heatsink, and maybe a NVM SSD (I do have a spare Samsung SSD Evo).
Link to Specs: https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-x570-f-gaming-model/spec/
I do own an Xbox Series X, so this would be mainly for Assetto Corsa (Don't need ultra settings) and maybe League of Legends, and Age of Empires.
Hello. Tell me please you chipset(pch) idle/load temperatures. It will be very useful for me.
Thank you for your attention.
Hi Guys, this is my first post here, I'm planning to build a pc and I have to decide between those two motherboards, unluckily I can't choose between anything else since I'm buying this pc already assembled (I have a discount, I would have loved to build one myself)
If I could have choosed betweed the strix x570 E and the tuf with WiFi I would have choosed the Strix, but since the strix x570 F has the same VRMs of the tuf, no Gigabit 2.5 ethernet port and not the same usb layout as the E, I really don't know which one to choose, is there anything else aside of what I mentioned and the aesthetics that I should consider?
The price difference is 55€ and I'm going with an already expensive build (I just don't want to spend 50 more euros if it's not worth it, I could spend them on a WiFi card, suggestions are well appreciated)
I'm planning to match it with a 5900x and a 3080 Strix and a 32gb ram (suggestions on the ram are also well appreciated, I'm going to buy them aftermarket)
Sorry for my bad english, I'm Italian so english it's not my mother tongue! Thank you all for your time.
Disregarding the price would it be worth it to buy the X570-E Gaming over the X570-F Gaming? The only difference that I can see is the amount gen 2 ports and the LAN port. I'll be using the board for gaming and work. Im going to be putting in a AMD 5900x into it and a 1080ti (GPU I have from my old build)
