New Asus rog strix z790-f wifi II doesn't support (compatibility list) any 2x16GB RAM when using it with 14th gen cpu

As the title suggests which motherboard is better? I’ve heard mixed reviews that I should go with Z790 because the Z690 with 13th Gen Intel CPU requires BIOS, runs slower, etc. on the Z690. Is this true? I thought there was no performance difference between the two.
Thanks.
Vos avis sur cette carte mère d'ASUS ?
Have been researching this topic recently on Reddit and others, always used Asus boards for Intel builds with Seasonic PSU or similar 'quality'. Looking to currently build a 12700K with Noctua D15 G2 cooler, 64 or 128GB DDR5 6000 CL36 RAM. Aiming for maximum stability, no real need to overclock (K variant good pricing and should be solid) but ability to control voltage with Z790 attractive.
Big question, looking for firsthand feedback on whether the Series ii Strix board such as ROG STRIX Z790-E ii and ROG STRIX Z790-F ii are any more or less reliable than the initial releases (version i). Have also considered the H and A variants, really just looking for best quality, least likely to cause hardware problems or have failures.
If this is really just a case of luck and no major differences then I guess just go with best price, interested in feedback though before jumping. I feel like the Z790-F is looking like the sweet spot currently, M2 gen 5 would be nice but not the end of the world.
I added the 14700K to this in case I do decide to grab one for future upgrade before they stop producing and if the 'issues' have been reduced to a minimum!
