I'm considering throwing a 5800X3D into this mobo instead of the 3600 that's currently in it - but its on BIOS Version 1405 from 2019. The most recent available update is v5003. I'll need v4021 at minimum for the 5800x3d to be supported.
Will I have to upgrade in steps to 2xxx > 3xxx > 4xxx > 5003 or will it be safe to go straight from 1405 > 5003?
So I updated to this last night and am experiencing random crashes. The system was 100% stable on the older bios at idle and under load (Prime95 etc).
I lost all my saved bios profiles when the update flashed so I had to redo all the settings (thankfully I had taken pics of the previous bios pages before the update), but I'm left wondering if I am missing something?
Or is this bios just unstable? It's weird. I ran Prime95 blend for 30 mins with no errors and temps were fine/within range. Then an hour later I'm just using the machine on a Zoom meeting with a colleague and boom, it just hard resets.
It's hard reset a few times now and it's doing my head in. What am I missing? Any pointers? I'm pretty confident in bios and with overclocking but I can't for the life of me work out what the issue is here. It doesn't seem to matter what I change - power in DIGI VRM, PBO, AMD Overclocking, RAM timings etc - nothing seems to make a difference, it just hard resets seemingly at random.
I've had my eye on this motherboard in preparation for Zen 3. Unfortunately it seems this specific board does not have BIOS flashback. While I am aware there is a BIOS update from August available with the required "AGESA 1.0.8.0" for Zen 3, I'm worried if boards shipped from say, Amazon, have that version preinstalled yet or not. How current (or far behind) are retailers typically? I'd really prefer not to go through the hassle of getting a secondary CPU to update the BIOS.
My board came with the original BIOS version 0270. At the beginning of the BIOS chapter in the manual, it says to rename the BIOS file "SX570IG.CAP" for this motherboard. At the end of the chapter where it goes through the BIOS update methods, it doesn't mention this file renaming again. So my questions are:
-
For those who have updated the BIOS on this board, did you rename the file beforehand?
-
Must the BIOS be updated version by version or can you update to the latest version directly?
-
Are the performance gains worthwhile or should I not bother updating?
I'm not having any issues with the board or the Ryzen 3600, except that the board LEDs will not run in rainbow mode like my ram does.
