Is the Asus Prime Z690-A good?
That's not white, it is silver colored. I was confused too but according to pc part picker, it is actually silver and not white. I would do a z790 motherboard so you do not need a bios update before using the 13th gen cpu. ASRock Z790 PRO RS WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard. It wouldnt create a bottleneck sicne you are not using a intel I9 so if you like the z690 prime A from Asus then make sure to update the bios using a usb before ordering it. If you truly want a pure white motherboard, the only white one in existence is the NZXT N7-Z690-W1 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard and it is 299-347$ and you need to do a bios update on it More on reddit.com

Z690 vs Z790 - Is there any Difference?
You will not be taking a performance hit at all unless you get a lower quality z690 board(cheaper board might not oc as high). The only difference in the chipsets themselves are more pcie lanes so unless you need a lot of m.2 storage you will be fine with z690. Also remember that you will most likely need a bios update if you go with z690 so get one with bios flashback if you don’t have a 12th gen cpu to do that with. More on reddit.com

r/buildapc on Reddit: Why are ASUS ROG Strix Z690-A mobo's so expensive, and are there any recommended alternatives?
May 24, 2022 -

Could somebody clarify why the ASUS ROG Strix Z690-A is so expensive ($340ish), especially for a ddr4 motherboard? is it the various "ai technology" integrated within, or is it something as simple as overall reliable build quality that insinuates "you get what you pay for"?

Do you guys have any recommended lga1700 ddr4 alternatives, that preferably would also fit a white color scheme (as I am trying to make a white build). Or do you guys think this mobo is worth it, esp for something a bit higher end (like a 4k gaming rig)

Ty and I appreciate the help

r/buildapc on Reddit: Is the Asus Prime Z690-A good?
March 10, 2023 -

I’m looking to build a PC with the Intel 13th gen i7-13700KF. I was curious if this motherboard (priced around $240) was a good pick for my build with this processor or if it could potentially cause some bottlenecks?

I like the look of the motherboard (white) and the RGB as well, but I do mostly care about performance. Could the motherboard create a bottleneck for ram as well? Would this one?

If anyone has a motherboard under $300 or a really good deal under $400, I would also appreciate those recommendations if this one isn’t that great.

Editing to add I want to get DDR5 Ram, if that could help determine a potential bottleneck.

Motherboards don't really cause bottlenecks. It is possible for a motherboard to throttle because of inadequate power delivery, but that is only a concern when pairing a high-end CPU with a low-end board, which is not the case here. Any Z690 board (even the cheapest models) can handle a 13700K. Motherboards can influence secondary memory timings, which does influence slightly. However, if you worried about these 1-5% differences, you can manually tune the memory to eliminate that variable. I would recommend a Gigabyte Z790 board, they do a good job of training secondary memory timings, and are rated to run up to 7600MHz DDR5. The Asus Prime Z690-A is only rated to 6000MHz. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/xXxRsY/gigabyte-z790-ud-ax-atx-lga1700-motherboard-z790-ud-ax https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qxXJ7P/gskill-trident-z5-rgb-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-7200-cl34-memory-f5-7200j3445g16gx2-tz5rk
