yeah those are the main differences. And the POST code and Start button. there’s some less flashy and more reasonably priced boards from other brands. The $260 MSI Z790 Tomahawk is similar to the Strix Z790-A. And the $350 Z790 Taichi Lite is similar to the Strix Z790-E if you did want those extra features. More on reddit.com

Just curious, I currently have a motherboard picked out but notice some cheaper options for the ROG Strix Z790. Just curious what the main differences are. Currently have the z790-E picked out for $499.99 but and noticing some that are cheaper.

I have the z790-E. Somewhere around here I read that ONE (if not only) difference is a difference in power-handling. [I originally bought a Gigabyte Aorus Elite Ax Z790 DDR5 but it simply would not pass POST. I spent WAY too much time trying things out and finally gave up and RMAed it for a replacement. Fortunately, Newegg was out of them so simply refunded the $250-ish it cost. I looked into similar features and, for whatever reason, decided on the z790-E and bought it in person at MicroCenter rather than mailorder. The extra $250-ish it cost at the time was NOTHING compared to the "cost of the time" I wasted with the Gigabyte board. I took the board home and, instead of a month of hair-pulling, the board came up with all the same components from the previous attempt - within a couple hours. That is to say, I didn't CARE about the extra bucks - I had a solidly working Rocket that continues to date being totally solid two months later]

I’m in the middle of putting together a productivity-focused build, but I want it to have that gaming aesthetic. I decided to go with an Intel i9-14900K, and I’m looking for a ROG Strix Z790-F or Z790-E motherboard with WiFi 7, DDR5, and LGA 1700 compatibility.
The problem? Every time I check Amazon or Newegg, I only find listings from third-party resellers or used options, and I really don’t trust them. I'd much rather buy new from a reliable source, but I’m struggling to find one. Some prices are too high like one in the pictures $615 and still used
