Using this for a few months and generally overjoyed with it, I even adore the touchpad location (which is where they all should be, imo). However, this thing is capable of playing AAA titles at 100fps, and has, but shortly after the entire system becomes choppy/frozen, the audio sounds like the matrix just blew up, and the system will hang for an indetermined period of time before either recovering or BSODing blaming an nvidia sys file (I'll post the exact one when it happens again).
This occurs on everything from BG3, MW2, Armored Core, reliably despite the gpu hitting and stopping at 79c. With older titles appearing to trigger it less, and very occasionally depending on what the desktop is doing I'll get a HW Audio matrix glitch out of the blue. It feels like the heat leakage from the GPU isn't getting cleared as fast as it needs to be even in fan performance mode.
Weird things: Didn't have this problem on arrival, cooler ambient room temp? Stock driver actually tuned to the model? Using dock with 2 usb-c > hdmi monitors seems to make everything much worse. Ditto for using the nvidia hdmi port at the back. Using the 2nd screen near the keyboard seems to be unhelpful in general but not as obvious. Updating drivers between studio/game ready doesn't seem to do anything but not tested moving back to ww
Good things? Aiming a blower desktop fan at the thing generally cools the non gpu stuff enough to avoid throttlng the framedrops still occur. Setting external monitors to 60hz@1080p seems to help a bit (less load than 2k etc I guess? but intel xe should even be able to cope.
Looking for stabilisation methods, hacks, 3rd party all welcome.
