I like Atlas.TI.
But:
1) it is geared towards processing of data, not so much the annotation of documents although you can do it. What is annoying is that if you code a set of docs automatically, you have do it all again if you add a document. That is not how a literature review works.
2) Very VERY slow when using a large number of documents.
3) No mindmapping visual capabilities beyond what logically extends from the coding, which is limited, see point 1. Answer from Inge Wertwijn on researchgate.net

Comparing Qualitative Coding Software: ATLAS.ti vs. NVivo vs. Delve — Delve
June 11, 2024 - Because of this, you cannot set up a mixed-team project where some people work in the desktop version and others in the web version. NVivo is a CAQDAS software known for processing huge amounts of data.

Would you suggest Atlas.ti or N Vivo for qualitative data analysis?
I found Atlas.ti works best for me, able to filter the data various ways and run basic reports for different groups, which allows for easy data comparison. Good luck! ... While ATLAS does name some of its functions after the equivalent terms in GT, I personally think that it is no different from either NVivo ... More on researchgate.net

Atlas.Ti or NVivo?
Never used Atlas.Ti. But have used NVivo. Found it fairly intuitive. However the files are not compatible between Mac and PC versions (and my personal computers are Mac). But really, I prefer the old school highlighter and paper method for qualitative analysis. But it depends on how big your sample size is. The bigger it is the better it is to have one of these softwares. More on reddit.com
Qualitative software suggestions
I am a qualitative scholar that uses/has used NVivo, Dedoose, MAXQDA, and Atlas. I think which software you use is entirely dependent on what you want to do with it. Are you wanting the software to do the analysis for you (word counts/ word frequency / word proximity)? Are you wanting to code the data (themes, open coding, etc.)? I would say that I used NVivo for several recent projects that included organizational documents, video, audio, and transcripts. It worked well to code everything. I used Dedoose for my dissertation which was great as my advisor took a job across the country during my final year and is web based (the UI for Dedoose is awful though). More on reddit.com

I recommend looking at Dedoose software, which fits my needs better than any of the larger programs (Hyperresearch, AtlasTi, NVivo, MaxQda,) -- which I looked at and/or used extensively before switching over. Why Dedoose? It's user friendly, powerful, cross-platform, works great with team projects or individual projects, and can offer beautiful mixed methods graphs (quantitative variables that you use to describe your data compared with the qualitative codes you apply to the data). I've been using it for years and also teach methods with it.

One of the points for Atlas.ti is its perfect match with Grounded Theory. It was actually developed with an explicit reference to the work of Strauss and Glaser.

I tried with Nvivo and it was very difficult in terms of contacting technical support and installing the software.
I'm a beginner with "Atlasti", and have considered it for my qualitative analysis, specifically for thematic analysis.

It’s less feature rich than Nvivo, and I find it a bit harder to use. The online version is quite good for coding, but it’s even more light weight. Frankly, none are that hard to use once you get used to them. Maybe watch some more videos about people using them to try and find your groove.
