Admittedly, I have not used Nvivo, but I have no qualms with Atlas.ti anytime I use it. If you have the foot pedal, it makes it super easy. More on reddit.com

I would look at R and see if there are libraries to do what you want. Very powerful skill that you can take anywhere. The learning curve is steep, if you don't know any other programming languages, expect a 3-6 month beginner phase. Tons of resources online though, you will not get stuck. More on reddit.com

RQDA is a popular one, but can’t handle data in video or audio format. It can be used with other R packages for visualization and combination of qualitative and quantitative methods.

I don’t know much about AQUAD, but is supposedly easier to use than RQDA.

CAQDAS like Atlas.ti, Nvivo etc are super useful for helping you deal with qualitative data. I use NVivo but I’ve been to research methods courses where others used Atlas and they seemed comparable in terms of the basics but had different features and their own complicated ways of using them. So if your uni uses Atlas make sure you get proper training on it. Unlike a stats program these programs won’t give you answers, but it will let you sort and keep a handle on qualitative data and (once properly coded) help you get the data you need to interpret or otherwise deal with easily. It’s an invaluable part of my research now; I use it for social media, surveys, interviews, other transcripts, even academic papers. Some of the features are a bit gimmicky but there are loads of good ones in the modern versions like coding of video, images, and direct audio without needing to transcribe, etc. So those are my 2pence on these types of programs generally, maybe someone more in your area/has used Atlas.ti specifically can help more :) More on reddit.com
