Audacity Settings to Sound More Professional
Best way to record Zoom podcast? - Software - MPU Talk
Audacity as an easy way to record audio for Skype podcast interviews.
I have been using MP3 Skype recorder and it has worked beautifully. It puts the incoming call into a separate channel. It' s free. It does not slow down my computer at all and it records the call automatically which I like.
With that said, you may prefer or need to have more control of when the recording starts and stops in which case, your solution sounds great. My friends and I lost a 1 hour call in podcast because the guy THOUGHT he could record directly in Audacity but he apparently did not use your system.

I've been using the same setting since ever from a YouTube tutorial. My hearing for these things aren't great and I can't notice much of a difference by playing with the settings on my own. Just FYI it needs to be something I can apply to all episodes.
Here are the settings:
-
Equalization (High to about 6dB, Low to about 4 dB) [Filter Curve]
-
Amplify (Default values, 3db)
-
Compressor (-30dB, -50dB, 5:1, 0,10secs, 1.0secs)
-
Amplify (-3.00dB)
-
Truncate silence (-20, -1.5s)
-
Limiter (Hard limit, 4, 0, -3.5, 2, No)
Not looking for perfection, but just wondering if something is very dumb?
