I'm spending a lot of time bedside of a sick relative and could use some distraction/even kinda education.
My most recent favorite reads are The Martian, The Outsiders, and The One and Only Ivan
Edit: things I like learning about just this moment: Epigenetics(beginners level), plants(absolute noob level), biographies (moderate to advanced), History(as advanced as you please, just make sure it has nothing to do with genocide)
Why YSK: Audiobooks are a fantastic way to learn while working, driving, running etc. however they can be quite expensive.
Audible charges $15 a month for the some of the same books that are available for free on YouTube.
Whilst the quality of recordings may not be equal (YouTube versions can be read by an AI) sometimes it is same recording as on Audible.
Granted some newer books aren’t available, but most classics and popular books are.
EDIT: This is best for those based outside of the United States - who don’t have access to Libby or a monthly Spotify allowance!
I have 10 hours to pass at work. Music is kinda getting stale. Any suggestions on audiobooks (open to anything), paranormal stories (preferably real) or history (creepy/paranormal, war, mysteries). TIA.
I was talking with an elderly lady who used to read constantly but now her sight is too bad to read for even ten minutes because of the strain.
I also learned that the younger generation prefers to watch "television" with subtitles.
Myself, I listen to audiobooks because I'm dyslexic.
So the question is, would you listen to a book on YouTube? Would you think hearing and reading at the same time is beneficial. Would you like to see the person reading it or would you like some visuals of what is happening in the scene or just a static picture or semi-static (moving clouds or water)?
Hello, I'm new to this and decided I want to dive into audio books but don't have a clue where to start. I'm wondering what are your favorite YouTube channels that supply free audiobooks?
Can you give your favorite recommendations for both male and female narrators? Fantasy with action/adventure are the kind of genre I think I would enjoy
How many people listen to audio books on YouTube? Honestly it's kind of hit and miss as far as quality. I play them on my TV, set my sleep timer, and turn off the TV screen. Does anyone have any favorites or warnings?
Today I found out that Librivox has a Youtube channel with all their 15.000+ audio books on it. There are many interesting works there although with a big variety in quality as it is all made by volunteers. Do you know of other good sources on Youtube?
Link: https://www.youtube.com/c/LibriVoxAudiobooks
Like all others booktubers but for audiobooks, not paper books?
As requested here, I created a list of AudioBooks in my YouTube channel. Below is an incomplete list of playlists made of individual chapters for each audiobook. I cannot create playlists for all audiobooks, as YouTube has a strict quota for the number of playlists, and I am creating gradually.
The list is ordered alphabetically, and repeated titles are different versions of the same book.

So, I do not have a YouTube channel for reading audio books, but would like to get one, as I currently make audio books for some friends that like how I read. But I was wondering about which books I can read.
I get that for most IPs I need the authorization, however I was wondering how many channels have big IPs like Harry Potter or others. They do not seem to be taken down, I do not know if it is a gamble or it just does not affect some videos like not monetized one?
I don't intent to monetize anything, just kind of get a cool hobby to share. Any advise?
Edit: Just to clarify I do not intent to pirate or steal, that is why this post was here in the first place, just wanted to see how much of my library I can pick up and read and how much I gotta find as public.
This is a Youtube Channel of over 1000+ audiobooks presented as individual chapters categorized as playlists. Full audiobooks are also supplied as a single video.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2ys611IBQH6GiyrCsdT_hQ
I am the creator and welcome any feedback or comment to improve the channel. This is not a commercial project, and I do this just to make the audiobooks more accessible.
I know audiobooks arent the same as reading books. But i enjoy them on the way to work.
Wich is some good audiobooks on YT wich changed your life or of wich you learned a thing or two
Finished Rich Dad Poor Dad and now halfway on Atomic Habits
Thanks for the advice!
So Ive found a lot of free series that authors or groups put out on youtube.
Tokypod For those of you that havent found it yet, tokypod has a few zombie series and they are pretty good. It focuses on the outbreak stage then the scientific and is very descriptive. I like it a lot. It uses an ai voice narrator but it isnt bad aside when they use a military title that is shortened. "Ssg.... traxton." And numbers like 9-1-1 read as 911. The author sounds great tho. Start on books 1-5 and then just go whereever. Its all stand alone after that.
Derek slaton's Dead america My favorite series by far. HUGE series. Like 300 hours of audiobooks. Theres the main series dead america and then he has standalone series like tales from new york, tales from the frontlines, and lowcountry. Great series and jumps all over the usa. Has povs from law enforcement, military, civilians, a biker gang, militia and is just a generally awesome series. He also has other types of books like horror and time travel. Make sure to comment and like. He enjoys talking to his listeners. Im bearjaw homestead. If you see me say hey. He uses a woman narrator in the first third of the main series. I loved her. He switched to a man for thr next third and to be able to put out sections every week he uses an ai voice narrator now. The narrator is great and doesnt have the problems that tokypod has with reading certain things. He release the main stuff on saturdays and most of the time a side series on wednesday. All for free. He does have the actual books of the original dead america series on amazon tho for those that dont like audiobooks. He has a patreon and a membership on youtube to get early releases. He recently went full time author.
Clayfield Clayfield is something else. The characters are all retarded. Like weapons grade stupidity. Stupid choices after stupid choices with some decent surviving in between. Its like dumb and dumber and dumberer in the zpoc. Not bad. God they are so stupid. But they are written that way. Not unintentionally bad. Just regular people that just happened to survive. No super people. Just a bunch of idiots in the zpoc. Good series but you scream at them to not do things. I found myself frustrated in some parts lol. Like legit mad at the characters.
I bumped into full audio books that start out with "This is Audible" so it seems that they are direct from Audible itself. Is Audible supplying these to YouTube for some reason?
Hey all! I'm planning on launching a YouTube channel that hosts free audiobooks (that I've obtained the rights to, of course). I'm still in the planning stages now, and in order to get rightsholders onboard I'm going to need to prove there's a market. Plus I could use help tweaking the model so that it offers You The Listeners something awesome.
I've hacked together a very short survey to get some feedback. It would be a huge help in getting this thing off the ground if some of you would be willing to take it and share it within your communities. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JMFDNP6
Many thanks!
I'd most likely have to use a downloader tool. I listen to audiobooks on my phone and walk places without decent data cell signal.
Probably not. But they I cant think of the last time I lsitened to an audiobook at normal playback speed. It kills me listening at 1x speed. So the inability to vary that on youtube means I wont use it.
Looking for recommendations for audio books on YouTube (can't afford audible right now)
I do a lot of walking around for cardio and the perfect time to listen. I've found a few gems but I know there's tons out there I'm missing.
This was a thought I had recently: what if someone were, after they were done writing their book, made it into an audio book and released it on YouTube. Like, this puts the book out there, a YT video is copyright protected so there's no worry that someone is going to copy it/claim it as their own, audio books are pretty popular right now, and there's nothing stopping you from still making a physical release for it.
Although, I can't imagine I'm the only one that's thought of doing this. I also feel like there's probably some big issue(s) with this idea that I'm totally missing. Has anyone tried releasing a book in this fashion? If not, what's the issue(s) that I'm missing?
