Anyone here managed to automate that damn Fishing Net, it stops working if I put any blocks on the bottom or on the side, and it doesn't want to pull stuff out from the top with a item transfer node and a pipe from Extra Utilities which is currently the only mod I have to transfer stuff.
Putting 5 string and 4 sticks in a crafting table like so:
string | stick| string
stick | string | stick
string | stick| string
would allow you to craft a fishing net.
Fishing nets placed in the water at a river, ocean, or swamp biome have a chance of catching a fish.(must be placed on a block that is under the water and have at least one source block of water above them. so this is more practical for the shore when considering the ocean biomes)
Kind of similar to crops growing, you have to be within the chunk update radius. Also similar to crops growing, catching a fish takes 24k -72k ticks (10-30 minutes).
The fishing nets will need to have a max capacity maybe 5 is reasonable (keep in mind that each of those fish will still take 10-30 minutes to catch, we're not catching all 5 at once)
Unlike fishing with a rod, there are no enchantments, no chance of catching loot, and fish aren't caught within seconds, so the fishing rod will still have complete relevance. This just simply offers a way to obtain fish without swimming around in the water with a bucket forever, or taking time to fish. I honestly hate doing both. The price to pay is material to craft the nets and the wait time.
Also, thoughts on what flair would be appropriate for this post? I'm still really new to this sub
Edit: Thanks to u/SEAURCHIN1255 for the idea on including sticks in the crafting recipe
Uses#
The way you would fish with this item would be to stand one block away from a water source, and then click the action button on your respective device. The net will submerge into the water, and once the net starts rattling, click the action button again to catch the fish. But this item also has other uses. It could also be used for catching passive flying mobs, such as bats, bees and also small land animals such as rabbits or chickens. On land it would have a range of 5 blocks.
Recipe#
It would be crafted using three sticks going bottom to top, and one string to the left or right of the top stick. It would also have 300 durability.
