Nope, don't send links to cars to anyone, don't have a Autotrader account, don't save searches or get notifications.Likewise. In the grand scheme of things, it is a minor irritation, but an irritation none the less. ... Yes, it's when you click links from someone else. The URL even to the specific ad contains the search criteria (so you can press the return to listings link) that will override your own settings. ... When I consult Auto Trader, I insert my postcode SW1A 1AA.

April 16, 2021 - Ok - so when I go to search for a car in www.autotrader.ca , I have to enter some details, car make ( Acura), model(TLX), postcode (T3Z3L9). And I am refused entry into the site. However, if I do the same on Google Chrome, MS Edge or FireFox I have no problem.

August 22, 2012 - I've noticed quite a few people are posting links from AT and using the whole URL - by doing this, you're revealing your postcode and annoyingly it changes the default postcode for me when searching for cars. All you need to post is http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/*advertnumber*...

r/X4Foundations on Reddit: What's the real deal with AutoTrade not working? I can't get anything to work.
April 15, 2026 -

Why does 'AutoTrade' or 'Trade for Commander' work only sometimes?

After researching the topic, it seems to have been a huge problem throughout the years and no one has a straight answer, except a general consensus that AutoTrader doesn't actually work...sometimes...maybe?

What's the real scoop on this? I have 5-star piloted traders that are next to my Energy Cell station and 5 jumps away is my Computronic Substrate factory. When I assign them to 'Trade for Commander' they fail to find any trades in allowed sectors, but they are literally right next to the station that sells energy cells.

I removed entirely all blacklists I was using, so 'No restrictions' on everything across the board, still couldn't find a trade.

I know this might come across as a bit dramatic, but at some point, I just have to consider moving on from this game. This is too complicated a game for a small feature to cause such a headache.

It's been 2 hours of trying different combinations of blacklists, googling the topic, this is ridiculous.

Independent Autotraders and station subordinates with Trade For Commander roles work just fine. When people say traders are "broken", most of the time it is because they didn't fully know how the game's trading works (to your point, it is a complicated game and many behaviors are hidden in the code and not directly explained to the player) and they have changed the trade settings to something that doesn't work, they got impatient with an otherwise working setup so went and made unnecessary changes that broke things, or they want the trading to do more than designed so install mods to get those extra features but then claim the otherwise working basic trading "broken". In your case, my first thought is since you assigned a ship to a station with Trade For Commander, it is now the station manager's star rating that determines the range of trades the station can make with its subordinates. The pilot rating of subordinate ships is irrelevant to the station's trade distance. Is the station manager 5 stars? Additionally, you can right click on the station and/or on the trade ship and select Behavior Inspection Mode to troubleshoot issues like this. It will list the name of any Trade Rules on your station's Buy/Sell Offers or the name of any Trade/Travel/Activity Blacklists that are preventing trade under each station icon on the map and under the sector name at the top of each map hex. Besides trade range, "no trades found" can also be because of misconfigured manual pricing, misconfigured buy/sell limits, or misconfigured storage allocation on your Buy/Sell offers, misconfigured ware baskets on your ships, and other possible miscongurations as touched on in the first paragraph. But it can also be simply normal market conditions where no available and profitable sale or buy offers are currently open. If it's not a matter of the manager rating, then there's a lot more information you'd need to provide on your settings and world state to identify the cause.

AutoTrade for a station subordinate does not use pilot skill for jump range and orders, but the station manager skill. For further details about your situation I'd have to check it out. You should come to the Discord. Most likely you have a sub 5 star manager so they can't actually do the transaction bc it's too far.

Autotrader website and distances. How on earth does the Autotrader website work out distances from one's search address to where the car is situated?! A couple of examples: car 1, shown as 79 miles away from my home address; turns out to be 95! Car 2; shown as 71, is in fact 89.

Not sure if this is well known or not but e.g if the URL is https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/20220716......

Take those numbers 2022/07/16. The car has been listed since 16th July 2022.

Can be handy to identify cars that might have more wiggle room in the price, or potentially have issues others have identified/caused by being been sat for really long

r/uBlockOrigin on Reddit: Strange uBO behavior in filtering search on AutoTrader.ca
August 13, 2021 -

Address: autotrader.ca

Repro steps: Browse to the main page, and perform a default search for any vehicle (eg: Acura RDX, blank Max. Price, postal code of K1A 0A6). Once the results come up, change Distance from +100 km to National and click Apply.

Expected results: Listings will reflect a nationwide search for the chosen vehicle. This is the behavior when uBO is disabled for this site.

Actual results: Changes do not apply to the search listings. Choosing a different make/model will apply the Distance changes, but that is not expected behavior.

Cause: I've tracked it to a problem with the uBlock filters - Privacy list. Disabling this list and trying again will deliver the expected results above. I'm not certain what exactly in this list is causing the problem with the search filters.
