Have a dark walnut melamine lacquer finished solid wood queen sized bed frame that I would like to refinish to a lighter, natural color. The wood is parawood. Is this something that can be done by a local woodworker cost effectively? What should I expect for cost and how do I find someone local? Google, Yelp and Craigslist havenโt come up with much in my area (Central NJ).

You cannot do that to melamine.
Someone just quoted me $2.2k for a queen bed frame commission, the only requirement being 28โ of clearance underneath the lowest part of the frame. Otherwise, I explained that I wanted the frame to be as simple as possible (no headboard, just slats, but obviously made well so it wonโt break). Is this a reasonable price? I was expecting signifanctly less, around $300 for materials and $400 for the work.
