what have you done in AWS? AWS has a free tier. Sign up. You get 700+ hours to run an instance. That's enough to run one instance all month. Don't do that. Practice orchestrating multiple instances. Practice fail-over. Practice config management like Ansible/Chef/Puppet. Practice making the root drive disposable, and only putting data on a backed-up EBS data drive. Practice creating AMIs. Find some projects in Lambda on github and practice installing, configuring and monitoring them. Use SES. Use S3 lifecycle rules. Understand IAM roles. Stop using the Console - You should use the AWS CLI for everything, it's much more efficient and repeatable. Try managing some things using TerraForm. Make a website with GeoIP, CDN, where it takes markdown documents from one S3 bucket and transforms them into HTML via Lamba to another bucket. Yes, this takes time. You are wasting your time thinking this way Different interviews will ask you different questions and pose different challenges. Just make sure your skill are good in what the job role requires. You can't cheat/fake these things. Learn AWS, learn foundational networking, learn how DNS works, routing, ip subnetting, OSI 7 layer model. Encryption, VLANs. Cover off all the basics. What are some deep technical questions or tricky scenarios that you have encountered in your experience or that you would use in an interview with someone for a senior AWS position None, because it's not reasonable to expect the candidate to have had the same experience and thus it's not reasonable to ask the question. This type of questioning is just a silly "gotcha" that does nothing other than weed out otherwise entirely capable candidates. Focus on some of the deep level topics you would find on the AWS certification and see how the candidate does with those questions. Then dive into their real world experience and challenge them on why they did things in certain ways and verify their answers demonstrate competence.
