A while back got an e-mail stating the above; And a week ago I just realized that migrating to Aurora is only supported until Mysql version 8.0.26...So AWS is basically nullifying the posibility of migrating from Mysql 8 to Aurora after April 20? Right?
Server version: 5.7.44-log Please upgrade to 8.0 or opt-in to the paid RDS Extended Support service before 5.7 reaches end of standard support on 29 February, 2024:x
WTF AWS?
Hi everyone,
I have two questions regarding the future support of MySQL 5.7 on AWS RDS. I'm currently using MySQL 5.7 for my database needs, and I'm curious to know if AWS plans to continue supporting MySQL 5.7 on RDS beyond October 2023.
I'm a junior with AWS, and this is the first time I'm facing such a widespread service deprecation like MySQL 5.7. Although there is no additional information in the AWS documentation besides the "RDS end of standard support date," I'm a bit surprised because I haven't received any communication about it yet.
So my questions are:
-
Has anyone received any communication about how and when we need to migrate the impacted RDS resources?
-
I cannot find any information about what will happen to deprecated resources, and I would like to be prepared for the EOL date. According to an old answer I found, we will have 6 months after the announcement of a major deprecation, but I'm not sure if this answer is still valid. Does anyone have more experience with this?
Thank you!
