Worth is subjective, but I don't think so, despite enjoying them and ranking them higher up on my list. The issue here is that you have budget sets that are quickly catching up with the $300 and above premium tier; like the JLAB Epic Lab, as a very good example. Denon Perl Pro w/ AAT is probably going to be a #1 pick in the price category for many people. AAT, however, is going to be variable. I've tested AAT with different tips, like the Divinus Velvets, Spinfit Omni, W1, and CP100/145s, Dekoni foams, Kbear K07, Final Audio Type E, and countless others. There were times it sounded as good as some of my lower midfi wired IEMs, and times where it sounded lifeless. This makes the Perl Pros tough to recommend as the de facto "best sounding earbud" even though I ranked them as my #1 pick for sound quality. One note on how AAT works, is that you can still run the multi-band EQ on top of the AAT correction, so Denon does have a leg up here as one of the only brands that essentially provides a corrective and user-based EQ at the same time (if you've ever run a Qudelix 5k, this is similar to their SPK/USER EQ feature). In a perfect world, you find the best fitting tips, use AAT, and then use the EQ to tweak to your liking, and you've got a set that should get very close to your preferences. Everyone else's favorite pick was the Pi8. I was not as much of a fan of the Pi8 as others were; I preferred the Pi7 S2. But the Pi8 does have some of the energy the AZ-100s seem to be missing in the upper mids and treble. There were other issues with the Pi8, however, and it's one of the few sets I sent back, so it's going to eventually fall off my list. This ranking has definitely changed as I've spent more time with some of these earbuds, but this is roughly where they fall in my lineup: Sound quality: Denon Perl Pro > Technics AZ80 > Technics AZ100 > Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 (with Sound Personalization) > APP2 / B&W Pi8 > Sony XM5 > Bose QC Ultra. ANC: Bose QC Ultra > Sony XM5/APP2 > Technics AZ100 > Sennheiser MTW4 > Technics AZ80 > Denon Perl Pro. So what do I run most of the time? The Sennheiser MTW4. Why? Because these comparisons are relative, and there's honestly not that large of a performance gap between the sound quality of many of these earbuds, despite the community's outpouring of adoration for new sets (which is both due to pre-release hype, and post-release recency bias). What does make a difference is user experience, ANC and transparency, feature set, etc. The MTW4 just strikes a balance between everything I'm looking for, so it's my main daily driver, with the AZ100s taking up second place as they sound very good, with solid ANC and call quality, and very strong battery life -- a huge plus for me, as I travel, often for extended periods. Why no Devialet Gemini II, or Noble FoKus Rex5? I've tried the former, and contemplated the latter, but I don't find either one as compelling. The Gemini II is the set many rave about from a pure sound quality perspective, but that's not the main reason I buy ANC earbuds. If I prioritized sound quality alone, I'd pick up any of my wired IEMs and couple them with a Q5k, FiiO UTWS5, or iFi Go Pods. Earbuds in this price range have to make a better argument for themselves (and provide better features, user experience, and even better tuning) before their pricing makes me second guess reaching for a BT dongle and IEMs -- which is what I still do when that's important for whatever my use case is. I have the Powerbeats Pro 2s on order as well, so we'll see how they stack up against everything else, and compared to the Buds/Buds+, Fit Pros, and Momentum Sports.

One common mistake I see people doing with the AZ80s is running the ldac codec at 96.0 kHz / 32 bits. I actually use the Bluetooth code changer app to run at 44.1 kHz / 16 bits. Doing this I find the AZ80s to sound much better. Most music, even the Flac files I have is at this sample rate. Although I cannot find proof of this, but there are plenty of people who say that android scales everything to 48.0 kHz no matter what. Give it a try. Btw to do this in developer options you have to switch to another codec AAC then back to LDAC before it will let you change the sample rate
