Is there a way I can guess what payment tier of Sentinel I should shoot for since cost is measured by GB analyzed? Even the 100 GB per day tier works out to $123,925 per year and that would rule out using it at all unless the pay-as-you-go option is radically more affordable for a relatively small org.

Talk with sales and see if they can get you a trial period so you can measure your ingest. There is a pay as you go option and it’s best if you are under like 70gb iirc.

If you're looking to ingest data from outside of Microsoft's ecosystem in any serious way, then you're going to find that sentinel gets very expensive very quickly. I've just completed a piece of work for one of my customers comparing the running costs of sentinel Vs another SIEM with a data volume of circa 350GB data per day. Sentinel worked out to be over £300,000 more expensive per year compared to the alternative.

Anyone here knows if I should include Azure Log Analytics in my pricing when I compute for Azure Sentinel on the Azure Pricing Calculator?

Or am I totally asking the wrong question?

Yes you need to cost for log analytics, however, that's costed as part of the Azure Sentinel costing in the Azure pricing calcuator at a 1:1 ratio of ingestion to retention. You can reduce this using reserved instances, but to reduce overage, get an idea of what your costs are (After 3 months, as the first 3 months retention is free). Due to the free retention for those first 3 months it will show up as a $0 cost item in the calculator if you only selected 3 months, so cost for your rentention beginning month 3 onwards based on your daily estimated logs e.g. 3 GB per day x 30.5 days = 91.5GB retention per month, ensure if your retaining that data for 12 months or x number of years you ramp up accordingly. You can do some of this by dragging the months out in the bottom Azure Sentinel. You can do all of this in the Azure Sentinel piece by changing the retention to 12 months but that will give you a total over the year and not a monthly breakdown, it also assumes 1:1 and no growth or retention of logs, so my advice is as above, leave the bottom total rention months as 0 and cost in log analytics seperately beginning start of month 4. Note if you're using logic apps or anything else you'll need to cost that on top.
