I’ve recently purchased Asus’ B550 mITX board and a Sliger SM 580 + Asetek 680LS with four Noctua 140mm fans.
My question is, how will I plug them all into the motherboard and should I buy some splitters for it?
From what I understand, there are fan headers on the AIO but I see that there are only four header slots on the mobo (AIO, CPU, Chassis, and VRM).
This is my first time building SFF and these smaller details have me wondering as I wait for the last parts to come in. :)
Anyways, would love your thoughts!

If you got nfa14's they come with extenders and spliters so just Y your two rad fans and Y your two case fans and use two headers. So you can keep bottom slower then top ect.

you are kind of correct, VRM one is taken by the vrm fan out of the box, so in practice you have only cpu, aio pump, and one chassis header. so splitters definitely needed.

I’m building my first PC and running into a little bit of confusion about my fan headers. I’m using an NR200 and I’m going to be using a Noctua nh-U12A with 2 case fans on the bottom as intake and 2 on top as exhaust. There looks to be only one CPU fan header as well as an AIO header. Can I safely connect all six of the fans to these two headers and be OK?

You will have a CPU, AIO and CHASSIS fan header on the top. No more than 4 fans per header (you’ll see a lot of powerless 4 fan hubs out there, then everything above will require power from PSU). Wouldn’t do more than that. I’m running my 2x AIO fans off the CPU header. Then 2x bottom intake and 2x top exhaust (4 total) off the chassis header using some noctua pwm splitters. Most headers will allow for 1A of current, so an A12x25 for example will use 0.14A. Can safely run 4 of them at 0.56A total, which is under the 1A limit.

Easy way to do it - just go into BIOS and edit fan curves: U12A fans = CPU HEADER (far left) Intake = CHAN HEADER (far right) Exhaust = PUMP HEADER (middle) Y splitter off the CHAN & PUMP HEADERS.

So I've purchased 4 KazeFlex 120mm fans and a X63 CPU Cooler which has 2 additional fans. The board only has two pins for fans, both of which have a fan splitter in it.
When computer is started and running, the system doesn't recognize which fans are what and Is unable to lower their RPMs and it seems like the Gigabyte SIV app doesn't respond or control fans at all. They are all running on maximum and are very noisy and loud.
Do I need to purchase some fan hub or what am I doing wrong?

you actually have 3 fans header: the b550 board doesnt have a chipset fan like in the x570 board, but apparently it retained the fan header. It's called SYS_FAN2 (page 4 on the manual, https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_b550i-aorus-pro-ax_e_1003.pdf ) There should be a short fan cable in your motherboard box, with a standard 4pin pwm header on one end and a smaller header to the other. In the manual this is referred to as "One fan power extension cable" (page 4 again). Hope that helps.

The special sputter that comes with the board for the 3rd fan header behind the M.2 slot, requires at least one fan to be in the reddish connector to control PWM on all fans connected to it. Other splitters need to be 4 pin splitters to work PWM. Otherwise you need to set the Headers in the bios under fan control to be Auto or voltage controlled (hybrid setting), so it can adjust based on voltage, since if its a 3 pin splitter there is no PWM signal. In SIV you need to go to the Advanced Fan setting tab to control the fan curves. This screen does allow you to set the fan zones of where each header goes to where the fan(s) are mounted. It also alows you to set which temp sensor is being used for the fans to use for it's curve. This is selected by clicking on the Case image.

Motherboard Specs page says: 3 chassis fan headers 1 cpu_opt header (fan will automatically change speed based on CPU temp) 1 AIO Pump header (can be used for a chassis fan, but the fan will always run at max speed, so that's not ideal unless you have a low-rpm fan). You can always add more chassis fans by using a PWM splitter (they're pretty cheap on amazon).

through the use of splitters, and fan hubs, theres no real limit. headers are usually limited to 1amp per header, so you can do the math there per fan for how many headers per header. and then hubs use external power and only use the header for signals

Just posted a pic of my a4-h20 build progress & got snagged on this step for 20 minutes before I watched a YouTube on installing my Corsair AIO that made it seem like I only need to connect fans to pump & it handles it somehow. Does this seem right?

March 29, 2023 - That is only for the chassis fan header, though, as there is no fan stop mode capability for the CPU fan or AIO pump headers in DC mode. An ability to read input data from multiple sensors for the chassis fan or AIO pump is a strong positive. Step-Up and Step-Down hysteresis control is also another strong positive for ASUS. The control system gives an ability to enable or disable the VRM fan but there is no real speed control permitted. Overall, we would say that the ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I Gaming has a solid fan control system that is very much comparable – and actually slightly better – than ASRock's competing system.
