After doing some reading I decided to get a bamboo blanket and duvet. I love the silky feel of them. I went with a glass bead type because I read they are more cooling. After a few months I have been noticing bits of grainy sand in my bed. A little research on Amazon reviews showed a few people complaining that their blankets do the same thing. I'm just curious if anyone else has had a glass weighted blanket and experienced this. I'm worried that maybe I'm breathing the glass particles in which would not be at all healthy for my lungs. I messaged the company but didn't get a response. I should've returned it but it was too late by the time I noticed this happening. Other than that, I do like it.
I’m new and reading reviews on weighted blankets.
My body produces a lot of heat when I sleep, so I wanna shoot for what’s considered the most breathable or coolest weighted blanket.
It seems I wanna look for bamboo? Possibly a cotton mix.
Any advice would be great

Does anyone have any recommendations for weighted blankets for people that live in hotter climates year round? I'm currently looking at this one but I'm not sure if this is a good product or company. Heard some mixed reviews about Bearaby and Gravity but leaning towards a tree napper. Any help, experiences, or blanket recommendations are appreciated. I noticed a similar post a few days ago and there were some recommendations but I think I'd like to stay away from blankets with beads. I'm hoping the blanket will help with anxiety, insomnia, and other things.
Edit: Don't know if anyone will see this but thanks to those who helped me out and commented! I'm hoping to buy one soon so we'll see what happens :)
My partner hardly ever asks for much and they recently asked for a weighted blanket for Christmas. I’d love to really nail it - looking for one that really is weighted equally across the blanket please! Any help loved an appreciated.
I was quite skeptical of weighted blankets when I first learned about them through a friend. I never really had issues with sleeping so it never crossed my mind to try one. However, once I got into grad school, that all changed. Almost everyone on my floor had a weighted blanket and had recommended me to get one as well. Needless to say, I did my research and settled with the Cooling Weighted Blanket from Luxome.
I weigh 145lbs and decided upon the 15lb blanket, which for me, is the perfect weight. They always recommend to get one that is 10% of your body weight which I feel is a good estimate.
The blanket itself is very high quality. The zipper is pretty well hidden and can be found near the tag of the blanket.
I love that one side is minky and plush which feels fuzzy and warm while the other side is made of bamboo and feels relatively cool. I sleep hot most of the time so the bamboo side helps a lot. This is not to say that the blanket doesn't keep you warm when using the bamboo side, but it helps you to not get too hot. The weight is surprising distributed well, so there was not area that felt heavier than another which was nice.
Washing was easy and they tell you to wash it cold with the cover removed from the blanket. This is a must if you don't want to ruin your blanket.
The blanket helps me fall asleep faster, but not instantly as some of my friends suggest. Overall, I have been having better sleep so that's a win in my book.
Now come my complaints. The only complaint I really have is there is no instruction video on how to tie the blanket back into the cover. I unfortunately did not notice how it was tied when I was removing it to wash so I could not replicate it. I did end up managing to create my own knot to tie them in, but the process was tedious. Perhaps an instructional video from Luxome on how to reattach the cover to the blanket would be nice. Or maybe a future idea to make it easier to attach would be interesting to see. Other than that, I find this blanket to be amazing. If this blanket ever goes on sale, I highly recommend buying it for cheaper even though I don't find the price to be unreasonable.
Hope you enjoyed this review!
I've been dealing with some pretty rough sleep issues lately, and after doing some research, I keep coming across weighted blankets as a potential solution. I'm ready to invest in one, but looking at amazon and google searches, there are literally hundreds of options, all claiming to be the best weighted blanket on the market. The prices range from like $30 to over $300, and I honestly can't tell what makes one better than another.
I'm completely overwhelmed by all the options out there.
A bit of background: I'm a side sleeper who tends to run hot at night, and I've been struggling with anxiety that keeps me tossing and turning for hours. My therapist actually suggested trying a weighted blanket, saying it might help with the restlessness and that constant feeling of being "wired" when I'm trying to wind down. The thing is, when I started looking online,
I've read that the general rule is to get one that's about 10% of your body weight, but beyond that, I'm lost. Some are made with glass beads, others with plastic pellets. Some have removable covers, others don't. There are cooling versions, organic cotton ones, bamboo ones - my head is spinning! I've been browsing Amazon reviews for days, but you know how those can be. Half seem fake, and the other half are either "this changed my life!" or "total waste of money" with no in-between.
What I'm really looking for is something that won't make me overheat (this is huge for me), distributes weight evenly without bunching up, and is actually durable enough to last more than a few months. I'd also prefer something that's machine washable or at least has a washable cover, because let's be real, things happen.
I've been eyeing a few brands like Gravity, YnM, and Bearaby, but I'm open to any suggestions. Some specific questions I have:
Does the filling material really make a difference?
How important is the fabric type for temperature regulation?
Are the knitted/chunky ones worth considering, or are they just trendy?
What weight did you choose relative to your body weight, and how did that work out?
If you've had a bad experience with a weighted blanket, I'd love to hear about that too. What didn't work and why? Any brands or features to definitely avoid?
Does anyone in this Reddit thread own a weighted blanket?
I’ve been looking at one to try and improve my sleep, but I’m not sure which one to go for and whether they’re even safe to sleep with?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated or personal experience with weighted blankets.
As I’ve heard they’re great for anxieties and other mental illnesses. I would love to be able to sleep a whole night through, not randomly wake up constantly or have anxiety attacks in my sleep.
I have always felt soothed by the weight of blankets on me and never really put much thought into why. Just recently I learned that not only are weighted blankets a thing, but also the science behind why some people find them so calming/anxiety-reducing.
To those who've found relief from weighted blankets are there any you'd recommend? I've found myself a little overwhelmed by all the options out there and wouldn't mind a bit of direction. I am on a budget, so the only must is it has to be under $100, ideally under $50, though, this is the one item I'm willing to splurge a little on for the year.
Please and thank you!
and a bamboo duvet cover for it. Thank you to the person who recommended one!
I’m hoping this helps my achy-ness and anxiety at night.
Getting some silk sheet sets next and an essential oil diffuser.
Wish me luck, fellow insomniacs!

I'm looking for the best cooling option around $150. I'm mostly concerned with breathability and how the cover feels against the skin since I don't sleep with sheets. I'd prefer a traditional weighted blanket style over something like the Bearaby Napper, so these are the three options I've narrowed it down to.
Luxome Cooling
Sleep Number True Temp
Luna Bamboo
I'm leaning towards the Luxome since it seems to distribute the beads more evenly and has a variety of cover material options. I wish their full size was available in 20lb though, but they seem to make only one weight per size.
The Sleep Number might have the best fabric for cooling, but multiple reviews mention that it isn't very soft. It is also an odd size and doesn't have any other covers available for more warmth or softness.
The Luna is the most affordable option and is supposed to be pretty soft, but I've read that it might still be too warm for the summer. I definitely sleep better when I stay cool, so that is the primary consideration, followed by the softness of the fabric. Are there any better options I might have missed?
My cat chose my weighted blanket to throw up on. The care tag states to not use a washing machine or dry cleaning. So, do I just say goodbye to my weighted blanket?
In the market for some new bedding. I've got a pretty standard down comforter and a linen bedding set, but am looking to upgrade. Max price range is about $500, priority goes to the weighted blanket.
Weighted blanket. I need one that breathes well but can still keep me warm (I have fans running even in winter). Looking at a 25-pounder, but I'm in the midst of weight loss (currently at around 200 lbs, slowly dropping). Also would highly prefer one that gives me more than just a couple of extra inches on each side of a king mattress (so, >80x87 if that's a possibility). My current comforter is 80x87, but barely hangs over the sides of my mattress.
Bedding sheets set. Would prefer percale or linen since they're cooler fabrics, but if there's a brand out there that's more resistant to sweat and the oils on your skin, that'd be amazing. My current sheets are nice and cool, but despite regular washing with hot water and even with stain remover additives, they're starting to stain from skin exposure. I do not sleep in pyjamas, and won't be starting any time soon.
My husband and I are buying a weighted blanket for our daughter as a birthday gift, and have reviewed quite a number of brands and options. We've decided on a 15 lbs. queen and have narrowed it to 2 brands - Baloo or Luna.
With a discount, the cost for Full/Queen Baloo is $135, plus $70 (!) for a cover (we may end up getting the cover elsewhere, however I do like that the fastenings to hold the blanket and cover together are made for each other, so I'm unsure). Baloo products have a lifetime guarantee.
By contrast, the cost for the Luna is about $55; there are no available covers but one from another seller would be between $20-$30. Luna products have a 2-year guarantee.
So the total cost would be about $73-85 for a Luna, and nearly $200 for a Baloo (less if we buy a cover elsewhere - say about $150).
The Baloo blankets look beautiful in the video, and they make much of being polyester-free with organic cotton, etc. The Luna is plainer (regular cotton instead of organic, larger plain squares instead of squares with channels, etc.) but according to the reviews and videos, appears to be well-made and functions well.
If it was for my husband and I we would buy the Luna, however it would be nice to give our daughter something special. My question is, would we truly be purchasing something of much better quality for the extra $100 in price - almost twice as much - or is it mostly more 'special cotton for special people' and upscale hype? Anyone with familiarity with these products, or thoughts on the situation, please write us back with your insights. Thanks!
Not sure if this is the right spot for this since bedding isn’t BIFL per se, but I really would love recommendations for a weighted blanket. All the ones I’ve seen are small and poor quality. I would love one that is King sized and not the terrible gray color that they all come in for some reason. TIA!
I’ve been thinking about getting a weighted blanket to help with sleep and anxiety, but there are so many options out there that it’s hard to know what’s actually good.
I’m looking for something that’s:
-
Comfortable for year-round use (not too hot in summer)
-
Durable and easy to wash
-
The right weight for someone around 160 lbs (I’ve read 10% of body weight is ideal)
-
Good value without sacrificing quality
For those who’ve tried a few, what’s the best weighted blanket Reddit would suggest? Any tips on fabric type or filler material would be appreciated too.
Update: I ended up getting the Luna Cooling Weighted Blanket 15lb - https://www.lunablanket.com/products/kids-cooling-bamboo-weighted-blanket?variant=40153468272728 and so far I’m really happy with it. It’s comfortable, doesn’t overheat, and feels great quality. A big thanks to everyone for their suggestions—they really helped me make the final decision.
Has anyone found a good weighted blanket that isn’t extremely hot? I know by virtue of design that may be a difficult ask.
I never realized how much my body calms down with pressure, but it makes sense. Before my 30s crept up on me, I always slept on my stomach on TOP of my arms because it helped me fall asleep faster. I also prefer to sit with my legs crossed.
So to save my back and hopefully sleep better I’m hoping a weighted blanket will help, but I’m a hot sleeper!
I have but it’s expensiveeee. Got it as a bday present and it’s the best thing ever I sleep with it every night bearaby sleeper
I bought a bamboo one off of Amazon and it’s been nice and cool for the warmer months of the year. The brand is wonap they have all different weights, sizes and colors to choose from.
Question for all of y’all:
I really want to get a weighted blanket of some kind. I wish there was something similar to the X-ray jacket at the dentist, I tried looking up weighted jackets and it gave me items for dogs lolol. I also want something easy to clean/wash, because I have pets.
I would love suggestions for blankets/throws/other items that are weighted! Thanks
So here's the thing, I really want a weighted blanket because I sleep much better with a good amount of weight on me.
The problem is, the weighted blankets are all typically quite hot.. Which is a major problem for me.
I'm currently using a really thin duvet from Walmart that weighs next to nothing. I live in Canada, in the winter with the windows open. I typically have a AC unit in my room running until mid-winter. I have to flip my pillow constantly throughout the night or change it because it gets too hot.
I can't express quite how annoying this is for me because the duvet makes it hard to sleep because it's so thin, but at the same time if I use anything thicker I'll have my AC on blast. And the pillow thing is a whole other problem.
Now that that's out of the weight, are there any weighted blankets / duvets that you recommend are on the colder side of things? Something you would have mid summer?
Tl: Dr, what weighted blanket would you recommend for mid-summer temperature?
Just like the title states. I am wondering what's the best on the market and if you actually tested or heard from friends and family. Also does it help with your anxiety? Thanks
