BR just launched a new rapid movement chino that's supposed to be more flexible and durable. Anyone get the chance to try it? It's priced at a whopping 98 bucks but of course there's a 40% off deal, so I'm a bit hesitant to pull the trigger.
Their original chino was already pretty flexible I thought (even the Fulton fit) so I'm not quite sure what they're going for?

I'll just start off with saying that I work at Banana Republic, so I am a little biased. Before trying them on, I was expecting to like the old ones better. Since the Rapid Movement chinos have stretch, the fabric is a little different, and to the touch, I liked the old ones better. They are a little fuzzier, and to me, that made them more comfortable. After trying them on, I actually liked the new RMC chinos better. They have the perfect amount of stretch, and the fit is much better than the old chinos. I am a very slim fit, so I wear the Aidens. I tried to get on board with our Fulton (Skinny) chinos, but they are too damn skinny even for me and I hate them. So I wear the Aiden (Slim) Chinos. I also wear a 30/32 in all pants (besides raw denim, in which case I wear an Unbranded 29) Here is an album of me trying on the two new sizes. First pic is the aiden chinos I was wearing to work that day. I am not an athletic fit, but if I was, I think I would love the new Mason (Tapered/Athletic) Chinos. Even though I do think it is weird that the Mason's have an even smaller leg opening than the Aiden Chinos. Final thoughts, if you want the superior fit and more comfortable chinos, get the new RMC's. They are more expensive, but they should go on a good sale soon. Gap brand stores are sale whores, which I hate, but whatever. Hope this helps!

I went into the store today to try them on, it didn't seem like anything special when compared to their traditional chinos. Fabric was maybe a little thicker. Tried the "tailored" fit and the "slim" fit but I'm still not sold on the higher price point. Ended up picking up a pair of their regular fulton chinos instead.

I know these pants are one of the most recommended items on this sub. I love them too, but am super confused about the sizing.
I thought I had outgrown my pair, which are now a bit tight in the waist and noticeably short on length, especially because when I bought a couple pairs in the same size used, they were even more tight and short.
However, in store, when I tried on some new, unworn pairs, my original size is perfect. This makes me think that I have not, in fact, outgrown them, and they just shrink a decent amount over time.
Does anyone have any experience with this? How should I combat this? Buy a size or two up and wash them normally? Avoid drying at all? Any input?
I know they are popular pants but didn't find a ton of clear info searching on this.

It looks like the Mason Athletic-Fit Chino that BR used to carry has been discontinued, which is unfortunate because they were near-perfect for me.
Is the Athletic Rapid Movement Chino the same thing? The website seems to be directing me that way, but I'm not sure they are the same. The price point is slightly different (the Mason was $125 and the Rapid Movement is $100).
