r/askTO on Reddit: Job Market & Layoffs 2024
September 29, 2023 -
I work for one of the big 5 Banks and have heard about layoffs that have been happening recently in banks and across many other industries too. It's only been a month of 2024, so I assume this is only the start? It's kind of scary to think about making a good income, and then having close to no income, and job searching in this really bad job market.
Does anyone else know about any layoffs happening? If so, what industries/roles/departments? What are your backup plans?

At a big 5 as well. BMO and RBC did their big cuts last year before bonus season. Not sure what else is coming down. It all depends which space you are in but if feeling nervous add insurance to any debt and build your emergency savings fund. May the odds be in your favor.
