Wire transfer using ach routing number
I believe the best case scenario is a delay, but the more likely it’ll be rejected/returned. I work in a different area but I would assume it’s the same process. More on reddit.com

Provided ACH (Paper & Electronic) instead of ABA (Wire) for wire transfer. Where is the money???
"a year overdue" The wire is a red herring, your brother is being scammed. There was no wire and he's not getting paid. More on reddit.com

Bank of america interational transfer (receiving)
If your mom is going to wire you money, use the wire routing number. The "Paper&electronic" routing number is for ACH transactions and such. You should be good to go with the wire routing number! More on reddit.com

ACH routing number instead of wire?
If the routing number provided does not accept Fed wires, then the wire will be rejected by the system. The originator should then be contacted by the bank to correct the information. This can delay funds. This is the process at my institution so YMMV. More on reddit.com

r/BankOfAmerica on Reddit: Wire transfer using ach routing number
March 15, 2025 -

I own a business and have myself as a payee for my business. I sent myself a wire today from the business account (outside of boa). I have sent myself many ach transfers before with no problems. This time however I choose wire instead of same day ach transfer. The payee is set up with the ach routing number and not the wire routing number. Does anyone know what happens in this instance? I wired myself the money using the paper and electronic routing and not the wire routing. Unfortunately I caught it after business hours so I can’t contact anyone until Monday.
