This seems like a completely impossible task in the Bank of America App/UI, to setup autopay for a bank of america credit card (specially if you want the autopay to be from an external checking account).

So here I'm giving a how-to to help others, this process finally worked for me:
Add your credit card to your bank of america login
Have an external (or bank of america) checking account linked to the same login
Wait for at least one credit card statement to post (you cannot setup autopay before that).
Under your main account page, "Pay and Transfer" -> "Bill Pay / Make a Payment" option (it will open up a "Payment Center" UI page.
Search for your credit card on that page, and click "Request E-Bill". A popup will open up, asking for the last four of your social, enter that, click 'add', then select checkbox agreeing to terms and click 'submit'. The popup will say "you have setup ebills now you can setup autopay".
Now refresh the page (or re-open the "Payment Center" page agin). You must refresh. I was getting stuck at this step earlier.
After refreshing, you'll see "Autopay" link under your credit card. Now you can setup autopay
Can I use my Bank of America credit card to make payments in Bill Pay?
No, this feature is not available for credit cards. You can, however, use Online Banking to set up one-time payments, schedule future payments or create recurring payments from your checking, money market savings account, SafeBalance Banking account or from your Home Equity Line of Credit. How can I make a payment to my credit card from a Bank of America account or another financial institution?
You can pay your credit card in any of several convenient ways.
On our website:
Log in to Online Banking and select the Bill Pay tab, then follow the instructions.
If you're paying your bill from an account at another financial institution, select the Manage Pay To/Pay From Accounts link from the Bill Pay menu, then select the Add Pay From Account button and follow the instructions (you'll need your bank's 9-digit routing number and your account number in order to set up the Pay From account).
You can also transfer money from your Bank of America checking or saving account to your Bank of America credit card. To do this, select the Transfer | Send tab, then select Between My Accounts At Bank of America and follow the instructions provided in the Make a Transfer tab.

Log in to the Mobile Banking app and select your credit card account, then select the Make a payment button.

How do I set up automatic payments for my credit card?
To set up automatic payments you need to be enrolled in eBills, which are electronic versions of your credit card bill. To confirm, check that eBills is on in the Bill Pay tab. If not, select Request eBills and follow instructions.
Note: You may need to add the credit card as a payee to your account before requesting eBills. To do this, select Payment Center from the Bill Pay tab, then Add a Company or Person and follow the instructions provided.
In the mobile app:
If you have and are paying from your Bank of America checking account, proceed to the Set up… section. (Adding external accounts must be done online.)
If paying from an account with another bank:
- Log in and select Bill Pay.
- Under Manage, select Add/Edit Accounts from Other Banks. Confirm the account you'd like to use is shown as active. If not, proceed to the next step to add the account.
- Select Add Account and enter the requested information.
Set up your automatic payment with eBills:
- Log in, select Bill Pay and locate the credit card account you'd like to set automatic payments up on.
- Select Add AutoPay in the AutoPay section then select Based on eBill's amount and due date.
- Select your Pay From account, Amount, and Deliver by date on which you'd like the payment sent then select Save.
- You will receive a confirmation. (*If already enrolled in eBills, see special note below.)
From your computer:
If paying from your Bank of America checking account, proceed to the Set up… section.
If paying from an account with another bank:
- Log in to Online Banking, hover over the Bill Pay tab and select Manage accounts.
- Select the Other Pay From Accounts tab. Confirm the account you'd like to use is shown as active. If not, proceed to the next step to add the account.
- Select Add a Pay From account you own at another institution and enter the requested information about your account with the other institution.
Set up your automatic payment with eBills:
- Log in, select Bill Pay tab and locate the credit card account you'd like to set automatic payments up on.
- Click the AutoPay link next to the company and bill, select Set Up AutoPay, then Set Up Based on the eBill.
- Select your Pay From account, Amount and Deliver by date on which you'd like the payment sent. Select Start Sending Payments.
- You will receive a confirmation. (*If already enrolled in eBills, see special note below)
Special note: If you're already receiving eBills when statement-based automatic payments are set up, you will need to pay your current eBill manually. Automatic payments will begin when you receive your next eBill.

You may heard that it's doable but it's really silly and hard to find the right path. Just wasted 3 hours of my life browsing the website and app, talking to really nice customer service and failed. Finally found the path myself and share it here so anyone reading this won't waste any time.
You will need at least 1 monthly statement of your credit card to enable the ebills and then setup autopay*.*
Step 1: Log in to Bank of America online banking website.
Step 2: Under accounts tab, click your credit card.
Step 3: In the upper right corner you will see a box with title "Pay this card", there is a button says "Make Payment", click it.
Step 4: A dialog box will pop out, click "pay from" and choose your account that used to pay the credit card. Click in the "Amount" box and you can see dropdown of your statement balance and current balance. Choose the statement balance. No need to continue. Click "go to bill pay page" link.
Step 5: Now you are in the bill pay page and you can see your credit card account. Click "request ebills" and fill the form. Now you will need to wait for the next billing circle and your ebill will show up.
Step 6: When the ebill shows up, select ebill, setup autopay with different options: Statement Balance/Minimum Due/Current Balance, etc.
And that's it.
Hi, I was charged for interest (not big amount) even after I go in the app to pay before due date every month because I somehow have been missing a charge here or there thus the interest rate on my Alaska Airline credit card.
So I tried to set up autopay via app and web. It seems like it's impossible. I called Bank of America and was on the phone for an hour and she wasn't able to help me.
I tried to google results/youtube videos but apparently Bank of America continues to change up the layout so it's impossible for users to set up auto pay. The videos I watched, they already changed the interface so I cannot find the right place to set it up. Why is a large bank like this intentionally do this? So they can make money off interest? Please help.
