How do I stop payment on a personal check?
You can request a stop payment on a personal check via Online Banking or by calling customer service at 1.800.432.1000 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., local time or by calling the number on your statement.
To request a stop payment via Online Banking, please select the account and click Stop payment on a check under Services. Then complete the required information.
You will need to provide the following information: check number, date written, exact amount, and payee. If the amount and check number are not exact, the check may be paid. The stop payment cannot be placed on an item that has already been presented. A stop payment on a personal check will be effective for 6 months. We ask that you contact us if any information on the confirmation is not correct.
