Barclays Card Experiences?
I had the Barclays Uber card. I've literally never taken an Uber, but the card originally offered 4% cash back on restaurants, which was useful to me. I don't recall my credit limit, but I do recall generally hating the card. I enable alerts on all of my credit cards to help guard against fraud (and also to act as a receipt). With nearly all of my credit cards, I get an email within minutes, sometimes seconds, of making a charge. My Uber card would take literally days to alert me--and the email didn't even name the merchant, so it was really hard to use. I would get an email on Wednesday night telling me about a mystery $14 purchase on Monday, forcing me to try to remember what I bought on Monday. The charges were always legitimate ("Oh, right, lunch at that Thai restaurant was around $14!"), but as both a security alert and as a receipt the emails were largely useless. They eventually revamped the card so it was no longer useful to me. I cashed out the rewards, put it away, and they eventually cancelled it for non-use. I really was not impressed by Barclays as an issuer. I'd be reluctant to try another of their cards. More on reddit.com
Is Barclays customer service usually terrible? Or is this a new development?
Nope terrible for at least 3 years. I have some anecdotal personal experience with them from just over 4 years ago. I had 780+ FICO at that time (im about 820 now) and I applied for one of their travel cards at the time. Its still the only time in my life I have been declined for a card. They sent a letter at the time with a very vague description of unable to verify information in application. I sent them a pay stub and a utility bill. A few weeks later another letter with the same. I called the help line for reconsideration and post going through several people when I finally got through they simply said "You will not be extended credit at this time". I still remember asking why and they simply restated they were declining credit. Background: At that time I would have had maybe 4 open cards and a total credit line of just under 100K. I had and still have a mid 6 figures job (~250K then, ~350-400K now). I would have had a modest amount of student loan debt (~120K-150K) back then but consolidated by nelnet (its gone now) I have never defaulted on any loan or payment in my entire life and I would have had roughly a 10 year credit history. Car was paid off. I had a stable job. I had no mortgage. It made zero sense. Chase by contrast had extended 60K on my CSP at that time and I would have had back then a citi double cash (, a discover card, and one other chase card. I still dont understand it to this day. I would not have had lots of new cards since my CSP is from 2014 and back then I had not opened others. Instead I ended up later applying for a WF Propel. I now avoid barclays. They have nothing compelling for me anymore. More on reddit.com

Customer for 16yrs here. Not experienced any issues mentioned here. Their customer service has deteriorated somewhat over that time, but they’ve not reeeeeeealy rubbed me up the wrong way More on reddit.com

I called the number on the back of my Barclay’s CC (866-255-1304) every month to make my Payment by phone. The weird thing is I was immediately asked about a Medical bracelet monitoring device to be sent to me. I have never had this happen. Has anyone else encountered this before? Will I be receiving one in the mail? How do I opt out of it?
