Don't forget to switch to basic family with the price increase if you're the account holder and not using audio books!
Back to $16.99USD on basic... For now.
Recently saw someone asking how to pretend your a student to get Spotify student pricing. We’ll just wanted to say the family plan is $15.99 and you can split it with 6 people and it comes out cheaper than the student pricing without faking a student email/ID. You can all keep your same accounts too, you just activate it and add five friends. I just had them all pay me the $32 up front for the whole year so I wasn’t tracking them down for $2.60 payment each month.

If I sign up for this today will I be grandfathered in and only have to pay 9.99 permanently for family plan? Doesn’t show anywhere that it’s just a trial or anything, but that doesn’t seem to make much sense. Was debating on switching to Apple Music exclusively but I do have Hulu grandfathered in I believe so I’m unsure I want to lose that
I woke up to this email. Spotify is increasing the price for family plan again?? They’ve just added useless features that I bet less than 5% of users use (such as the DJ) and increased the price for everyone. Prices are in Australian dollars
for context, we are a family of 4, 2 daughters, me and my wife. we share a premium individual account across 4 devices, then i bought my daughters a tablet and they installed spotify. and now one of us gets logged out from time to time, is it true only 5 devices per account? then i saw the family plan, with 6 accounts all tied in, does that mean we can log in 5 devices per account? and also can we import and export playlist? since my account holds all our playlist.
With the price increase, it looks like I can keep the $16.99 price by going from premium family to basic family. There are two differences listed: basic doesn't include audiobooks (fine), and there's a distinction between "up to 6 basic/premium accounts".
So does basic family include ads? Doesn't allow downloads? Anything else? If so, what is the benefit of basic family over just going with the free service?
lol I just had the same question except about duo instead of family. Must be they just released these plans today, I got the same email

All Premium plans include:
-
Ad-free music listening
-
Download to listen offline
-
Play songs in any order
-
High audio quality
-
Listen with friends in real time
-
Organize listening queue
"Basic Family" isn't marked "Premium" like the other plans are, so I'm wondering which of those features it's missing, in addition to audiobooks.
Hello,
I currently subscribe to the family plan for my daugher and I. I am trying to consolidate some monthly payments and would like to move over to a yearly plan for spotify. Is this possible? I do not see an option on the web page and a google search does not provide much information
Individual vs family
Besides sharing an account with the family is there a difference? In Premium Individual I was able to listen and download some books but now I just got Premium Family and it’s got this message:
You can't buy audiobooks in the app, but titles you've already purchased through Spotify can be listened to here.
In individual the lock icons weren’t on any of these chapters - what am I doing wrong?
If you’re on a Spotify plan that includes monthly audiobook listening time, you can switch to a cheaper music-only plan by changing your subscription to the Spotify Basic plan, which was launched specifically to offer a lower-cost option without audiobooks. To do this, go to your account settings on the Spotify website or app and select the Basic plan, which provides ad-free music streaming and offline listening for a lower monthly price.
Spotify have been very quiet about telling users this information …..
so my card got changed and i originally had basic family premium, but when i added my new card, it told me to choose either premium individual, duo or family. family is $20 while basic family was $16. is this option gone now?? i don’t rlly use audiobooks so it’s a waste of money for me to get the $20 one. plus i already had the subscription idk why it got taken away.
I’ve been on Spotify Premium Family since 2023 (INDIA) and am currently being charged ₹179/month. My account shows the same amount and renewal date (May 2025). However, when I check the official site, the Family plan is listed at ₹229/month. I haven’t received any notification about a price change.
Is this normal? Do existing users keep their old pricing? Or is Spotify quietly increasing rates without notice?
Also, should I cancel now to avoid surprise charges later? Any advice appreciated!
Is it safe to get into a spotify premium plan with unknown people? I came USA for studies, I use spotify a lot so I wanna pay as less as possible so I wanna get into a family plan. I know student plan is only 6USD but fam plan costs even less. My friends don’t care about spotify premium, So I wanna take fam premium with outsiders here. Is it safe? Or should I better go with Student plan?
TIA 🙏🏽
Guys, I've been on a Spotify family plan with my friends for almost two years, paying just ₹30 a month. Suddenly the plan ended and Spotify instantly showed its true colours that is no more family plans the ads, the restrictions, everything is insanely annoying. It took just one day without premium for me to lose my mind. Now I'm confused... should I switch to YouTube Premium or Apple Music, or just settle for the 99 student plan?
