Tile guy here. I spend far more than my fair share of time in bathrooms. Soundproofing should be on your list.A solid wood door for soundproofing. A Panasonic bathroom fan on a one hour timer sot keep it dry post shower. Epoxy grout because cleaning sucks(do not listen to any bullshit about other grout having sealer in it. They use epoxy in commercial labs and restaurants for a reason). Dow Corning silicone on EVERY inside corner of the shower ,a again because cleaning sucks. Schluter or Wedi waterproofing under the tile. Go curbless. It is not hard, and should not cost much more. Heat the floor. Get a towel warming rack. Either get a wall hung toilet or if that is not in the budget get a one piece American Standard cadet again because cleaning sucks. get a gfi with a nightlight in it. They are just enough light to not stub your toe when you go pee in the middle of the night. Tile the baseboards. No wood and for the love of God no MDF. Bathrooms get wet. Good luck! Just redid mine, well almost done that is lol. 64" to the front edge of the tub, 60" wide, same layout except toilet and sink are on left not right. On the bare wall across from the vanity and toilet, I cut a big hole in the wall and built a box to make recessed shelves. With the 4 inches of recessed space, I have (3) 8" deep shelves that only protrude 4 inches as to not take up much of the precious free space in the room. Thought it was a pretty clever space saving trick. I went with lotus leaf green walls, pretty dark considering it's small and there are no windows, but the vanity, sink, tub insert, trim are all pure white and the floor is sterling oak gray vinyl plank floor so the colors balance out very well. I could go on all day about how much I love these vinyl plank floors. Floating vanity by Ikea, euro small toilet by Ariel. My vanity is slightly too wide, a sacrifice my wife was willing to make in the name of good sinktop space at 31 inches. I'd try and give yourself atleast 40" between the tub and vanity for the toilet. I only have 33" and that extra 7" would have allowed me to mount the toilet paper roll on the side of the vanity comfortably. Using a free standing roll holder until I make a decision on that one. If this isn't a primary bathroom and you could do a pedestal sink, you'll be golden when it comes to free space. I needed storage and we didn't want to put an over the toilet cabinet up so we went with the vanity with drawers. The room feels bigger because the storage is down low and not in your face.
