My M1 Air spends weeks at a time connected to power, so I keep the battery 'sailing' 10% around 70%, and at least once a month I top it up to 100. After 3 years it reads 163 cycles 97% health. I use AlDente Pro for reasons. It keeps my battery from charging past 80%, protects it from charging if the heat is too high due to excessive CPU use and runs a full cycle once a month (or on demand). If I need to top it up before being away from power, it can handle that too.
There are a few info-only apps that are pretty popular. Coconut Battery has been around for a long time. Battery Health from Fiplab is also very popular. Sonoma provides battery info natively as well.
I know that some people claim that Apple's built in optimized charging feature is all you need. It seems to me though to be worth it to let AlDente handle that for me. Even though it's a login item and runs the whole time my Mac is on, it's not any kind of resource hog. I use the paid version as part of my Setapp subscription, but there are also a free version, a sunscription price and a lifetime license available.

I use batfi, is better then al dente on the free tier. The only issue is it support apple silicon only so no luck for older devices.
