Battery Size Calculation Check
Is there a good calculator for estimating size of battery and inverter for an off-peak, non-solar system to charge battery during off-peak times and run house during peak times? I’d add solar later.
Trying to decide what battery size I need. Is there a calculator or spreadsheet I can use? What size do you typically use? Charging phones, laptops, a drone, running a dometic, lights in camper to see.

I need to supply 500W 120V AC for 3 hours. If I use a 12V DC inverter, what size of 12V battery do I need for the final battery voltage to not be below 11V DC?
A 90% efficiency inverter will be used.
ChatGPT says the below. Is it correct?
"To supply 500W of 120V AC power for 3 hours using a 12V DC inverter while ensuring that the final battery voltage doesn't drop below 11V DC, you can calculate the required battery size as follows:
Calculate the energy needed in watt-hours (Wh): Energy (Wh) = AC Power (in watts) x Time (in hours) Energy = 500W x 3 hours = 1500Wh
Adjust for inverter efficiency: Assuming an inverter efficiency of 90%, account for losses: Energy required from the battery = Energy / Inverter Efficiency Energy required from the battery = 1500Wh / 0.90 = 1666.67Wh (rounded up to 1667Wh)
Calculate the capacity of the 12V battery in ampere-hours (Ah): To find the required battery capacity, convert the energy to ampere-hours at 12V: Battery Capacity (Ah) = Energy (Wh) / Battery Voltage (V) Battery Capacity = 1667Wh / 12V = 139.75Ah
To ensure the final battery voltage doesn't drop below 11V DC, you need to consider the discharge capacity. In this case, you want to avoid discharging the battery below 11V. So, you'll need a 12V battery with a capacity of at least 139.75Ah or, for practical purposes, round it up to a 140Ah battery to ensure you have a margin of safety and avoid over-discharging the battery."
