This polygon shapefile depicts cities in the nine county San Francisco Bay Area Region, California. This data was compiled by the GreenInfo Network from different County and City agencies. Data was merged together into one file. Coast line is clipped out. The coverage displays city and county attributes, notes and source information in the database. Solano cities and San Francisco city boundaries are pulled from the United States Census Bureau Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing GIS database called TIGER/Line.

Description: This map shows cities, towns, highways, main roads, secondary roads in San Francisco Bay Area.

Commonly known as the Bay Area, the San Francisco Bay Area encompasses the major cities and metropolitan areas of San Francisco Oakland, and San Jose and includes nine counties, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano and Sonoma.

November 19, 2021 - Each city usually has its own police department, parks and recreation department, local taxes e.g. property taxes, and their own laws and regulations, like zoning, building permits, where it is permitted or disallowed to smoke, etc. This map omits some other layers of local government like counties and school and water districts.

Unless you meant the blue, they've got islands and stuff in the water, but yeah the guy who mapped this may have merged the city boundaries...

San Francisco Bay Area map Surrounding San Francisco Bay are cities both large and small. The city of San Francisco lies where the water from the bay meets the Pacific Ocean. At the southern end of the bay, the area around San Jose is a center of tech, with the resulting nickname “Silicon Valley.” The map of the San Francisco Bay Area is surrounded by a border highlighting significant events in the area's history.

Story: I designed this map for a local urban planning firm to create a functional conversation piece for their conference room. The map includes labeled counties, cities, highways, water bodies, and bridges of the Bay Area. It also shows Bart and Caltrain lines stations that are unlabeled, and a
