Interview with Rutger Bregman, the historian whose comments calling Trump "corrupt" were censored by the BBC

The historian and author Rutger Bregman was invited by the BBC to give a series of lectures called 'Moral Revolution' for their annual 'Reith Lectures'. During the opening lecture, he made an aside calling Trump “the most openly corrupt president in American history”. This specific line was edited out when it was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 as can be seen here . The BBC has claimed this was for legal reasons . This occurred in the wake of Trump threatening to sue the BBC for $10 billion. In a statement on LinkedIn , Bregman accused the BBC of censoring him in an act of cowardice. This act of censorship is supremely ironic considering that in the lecture he criticized institutions and media organizations of cowering in the face of authoritarianism.
