I think the cut, colour, and print on the first one don’t read as formal (gorgeous summer dress though). I think sweat will be very apparent on the light coloured silk slip dresses (I, for one, sweat like mad at destination weddings) but they’re beautiful. Silk is amazingly light and breathable in hot weather. Excellent fabric for a beach wedding IMO but perhaps a different style or colour, and / or shape wear underneath to absorb the sweat and smooth everything out? ETA: more than one layer of silk will be better for not showing sweat. Patterns/printed fabrics and darker colours also disguise sweat. A slit helps avoid overheating when wearing longer dresses / gowns. Polyester is likely to be the hottest and most uncomfortable fabric you could potentially choose to wear. Silk can be expensive, and buying secondhand from sites like Poshmark really helps keep costs down (consignment stores can also be great but perhaps hard to come by in smaller towns) if that’s a priority. I’m personally quite partial to Reformation’s dresses, and think the silk ones are stunning. More on reddit.com

On our wedding day next year in our Costa Rican with a beach ceremony, my fiancée will be wearing a 'Guayabera' shirt. I'm creating the 'Save the Date,' and I'd like to guide our guests on attire. I’m thinking about leaving it for the actual invitation, but considering putting it on because it’s a destination wedding (?).
I don't want anything more formal than the Guayabera, (specifically for men) but I also want to maintain a certain level of elegance for our beachfront sunset wedding. Considering the hot province and the outdoor setting for both the ceremony and reception, what attire would you recommend for our guests?
I'm considering “cocktail attire” but open to suggestions. Some friends suggested either an all-white dress code or providing a color palette for guests to choose from. What are your thoughts?

I know this thread is old but I just wrote a bunch of info on dress code for my wedding guests at a semi formal beach wedding and thought I’d share. I also wanted to make it non gendered so women can feel free to wear a seersucker suit, it’s welcoming to nonbinary folks, etc. —- “Cocktail beach wedding attire” means dress in a semi-formal style but beach friendly. (Note the typical weather at the ceremony time is 80 with sun and a breeze.) Imagine what you’d wear to a nice restaurant at the beach. If you wear a dress, think breezy maxi dress, lightweight fabric mini or midi dress, printed jumpsuit, and similar looks. Look for breathable fabric, fun prints — you might get hot if you wear a little black dress and heels. For shoes, consider dressy sandals, wedges, or chunky heels. You may want a wrap just in case the late night breeze gets cooler. For those who prefer to wear a shirt and pants, you don’t have to wear a jacket. If you do, a breathable sports coat or unique blazer in a fun print is welcome. Shoes are a little more casual (e.g., loafer, boat shoe). Consider fabrics like linen, khaki, or seersucker to stay comfortable. Avoid going as casual as shorts, denim, swimsuits, or flip flops!

I've been searching for weeeeks to find the perfect dress for an upcoming beach formal destination wedding and need some help! A couple challenges are that I am tall (6'1) and that I live in a city with very few stores to try dresses on in person.
The first two images are a Park & Fifth dress that I was able to try on during a weekend trip to a different city (pics are screenshots from a video of me moving in the dress). The next images are a dress from Meshki that caught my eye, but a concern I have though is whether these lighter colours, which typically look good on me, could show up as too white with flash/in the sun...
Thoughts on the dress I tried on and/or the Meshki dress? Should I keep looking, and if so, any recommendations? Also, is silk/satin a bad idea for a warm climate?
I'm willing to spend a bit extra for something good quality and sustainably sourced, but wouldn't want to go more expensive than the P&F dress ($275). Me and my overthinking mind thank you in advance!!!

Satin will definitely show any sweat or anything wet that touches the fabric. I wouldn’t recommend for a humid climate. I think the first print looks nicer, the second will probably look too light.
