r/beatsbydre on Reddit: Any news about Beats Fit Pro 2 now that Powerbeats Pro 2 is out?
November 13, 2024 -

Hey everyone!

With the recent launch of the Powerbeats Pro 2, I’m starting to wonder if anyone’s heard any rumors or leaks about a potential Beats Fit Pro 2. The original Beats Fit Pro came out in late 2021 and has been a solid option for workouts and everyday use, but it feels like an update could be on the horizon.

Given that Apple tends to space out their audio product releases, I’m curious if the Powerbeats Pro 2 launch might signal that a refreshed Fit Pro could be next. Has anyone come across anything credible about new features, design changes, or even a possible release window?

Also, one thing I’d really love to see improved is the low IPX4 rating. I rinse my Jabra earbuds in fresh water after every workout, and that kind of peace of mind with better water resistance would be a huge plus. Has anyone heard if a higher IP rating could be in the cards?

Would love to hear what the community thinks!

I’ve been using the Beats Fit Pro for three years, and they’re still my everyday use. Great fit, solid ANC, and seamless with Apple devices. But when is Apple dropping the 2nd gen?

Would love to see better battery, ANC improvement AirPods Pro 2 features. Anyone else still using these and waiting for 2nd fen of Beats Fit Pro?

I’ve been an avid user of beats fit pro for the last 2 years and love them to death. Recently I’ve noticed beats is moving away from using apple designed chips like the H1 that was used in the first generation AirPods Pro’s. I was wondering if Beats would be releasing a second generation of the beats fit pro with the H2 chips to hopefully bring the features from the latest AirPods Pro to these old earphones that are so comfortable to wear and work out with all the time. Any insight to news is appreciated :)

So far there have been no solid rumors of a Beats Fit Pro 2. Since Beats products typically leak 2 - 3 months before they’re released, they’ll probably need to leak by the end of September if they’re coming out this year. IF we’re gonna get Beats Fit Pro 2 with an H2 chip, I think this fall would be the most likely timeframe. The original Fit Pro came out two years after the release of the original AirPods Pro, and this fall would be two years after the release of AirPods Pro 2. If we don’t get Beats Fit Pro 2 with H2 chip this fall, that probably means the Beats Fit Pro won’t get an update until Apple can replicate all the features of the current Fit Pro with Beats Custom Silicon. To date Headphone Accommodations and Automatic Switching are the two major features of the H1 chip that we haven’t seen on any Beats products with Beats Custom Silicon. In theory, Apple could release Beats Fit Pro 2 in 2025/2026 with all the features of the current Fit Pros but with Beats Custom Silicon instead of H1 to provide better functionality for Android users. We’ve already seen Apple bring numerous features of the H1 chip to Beats Silicon (ANC/transparency, dynamic head tracking/spatialize stereo, audio sharing, announce notifications) so we know this is possible. If they combined this with new extra small eartips, better sound quality approaching AirPods Pro 2, and a set of new fun colors, I’d buy them. While I’d be disappointed that we’re not getting the full feature set of the H2 chip (not getting adaptive audio would by far be the biggest disappointment to me), I think it’d be a solid update given Beats recent pivot towards Android users at the expense of Apple users. If on the other hand, we get Beats Fit Pro 2 that are essentially Studio Buds + with a wingtip and Dynamic Head Tracking/Spatialize Stereo (no Headphone Accommodations or Automatic Switching), I’ll be devastated.

There’s no news unfortunately. Not even any rumors. I’d love a 2nd gen as well, the beats fit pros are fantastic.

This morning I received the PBP2 and I'll be returning them in favor of my BFP. The main reason is fit. The BFP are significantly more secure in my ears.

The PBP2 obviously have better tech. But I use these for running, so fit is the #1 consideration for me, and in terms of which one has a better fit, it's not even close. This is surprising considering the PBP have an earhook. I also appreciate the slimmer profile and smaller size of the BFP.

I'm a bit disappointed because it has been a long time since beats updated either of these fitness buds. But even after 4 years I'm still LOVING the BFP. So hopefully it won't be long before the BFP2 is released.

TLDR: BFP fit much better than PBP2 so I won't be upgrading.

So I just opened my Powerbeats Pro 2... I have NOT yet worn them for a workout, I'll do that later today, but I have to admit I have concerns. I had the Powerbeats Pro for maybe 1.5 years, then the Beats Fit Pro for 3 years now... my initial impressions are these: The sound is similar to the BFP, I would not say the PBP2 is superior. Not a big deal for me, I like them both. The ANR and Transparency with a properly fit eartip is *about the same* for the PBP2 and BFP. I've tried with furnace noise, TV in the background, and a speaker playing airplane noise and really they are very very close. If anything the BFP may actually make a room sound slightly quieter but it's really hard to tell. This is NOT the big improvement people talk about going from the H1 in the AirPods Pro to the H2 in the AirPods Pro 2... I already thought the BFP was good, meaning this is good too, but this isn't really better in a meaningful way which is disappointing I guess. The PBP2 came with the medium sized tips installed, and they are too small for my ears (not surprising, I typically use large) and would lose a good seal (and fail the test) if I moved my jaw around. I switched to large tips and that made the right PBP2 feel pretty good but the left was still a bit too loose and really moving around my jaw or head banging would loosen the left eartip and at would fail the test and feel loose. (I want to be clear: in this entire paragraph when I say "loose" I mean the ear seal, NOT the entire earbud itself, nothing will cause these to fall off with the hook.) I finally switched both the left and the right to the XL seal and then both feel pretty good. I still think they feel looser / less perfect on the seal than the BFP which for me *really* locks in with the wingtip and even with a LOT of head movement really don't move at all. I'm a person who can't wear AirPods or AirPods Pro *at all* without them falling out, even sitting over time they will fall out, and the first generation PBP and even more so the BFP (because of the smaller size and ANR) were revelations for me. The magnets in the case align and hold the PBP2 *much* more securely than the old PBP and case, and I bet they have totally resolved the charging connection issues that plagued the PBP last generation. You can even open the case and violently shake it upside down and they won't come out or budge in the least. The PBP2 look way better than the PBP did and I think they look the best of any behind the ear hook style headphones. I still have a soft spot for the BFP because I think they look great and are more subtle when NOT working out. I do feel the PBP2 will be slightly more comfortable than the BFP because of the fact they feel "looser" inside the ear for me than the locked in BFP. If they can maintain sound quality and ANR while I'm running and overtime while being more comfortable that would be the number 1 reason why you might consider than better than the BFP, but I've grown VERY used to the BFP over the last 3 years and I'm not bothered by the strong hold inside my ear until I've been wearing them for many, many hours. The case is much better sized than the old PBP case. It's still about 50% larger than the BFP. The way I describe it is like this: 1) the AirPods case is EASY and ideal to fit in your pants pocket 2) the BFP case can fit in your pants pocket and it isn't a big deal, but it is a slightly noticeable bulge that isn't ideal 3) the PBP2 can fit in your pants pocket in an emergency, but you wouldn't want to ever really carry it this way and really should carry this in a bag unless you really had too. The old PBP case... you *couldn't* carry that in pants... ever. It's nice the case is wirelessly charging now... it is silly the BFP case doesn't. Obviously I have used these less than 30 minutes and not even for one workout so this all was probably grossly unfair but I do have concerns like I said. I won't be using the HR functionality of the PBP2 since I use an Apple Watch so these need to be at least one or more of the following to justify using over the 1) better sound 2) better ANR or transparency 3) more comfortable and secure fit. Right now I'm concerned for me it really isn't any of the those 3 things as while it is "secure" in the sense it doesn't fall off my ear if the inner seal is looser and feels awkward or hurts ANR that's a big miss for me. I'm going to give it a fair shake but perhaps I was just one of those people the BFP was perfect for...

Powerbeats Fit Debut as 'The Evolution of Beats Fit Pro' | MacRumors Forums
September 30, 2025 - By now you might even be able to get the Pro 2s on sale. Never have actively used the HR feature as I have a watch but another nice to have. Philly ... Both my wingtips came off too. But it was an easy fit — just a dab of superglue. Click to expand... That's encouraging. My coverage has ended, so I'll try that if they tear again. ... Still no H2 chip which probably means ANC will still lag behind AirPods Pro. Bummer. I'm using the Beats Fit Pro now and was looking forward to an updated version, but I'm not convinced about the PB Fit.

April 28, 2023 -

UPDATE: Got the Beats Studio Buds Plus and they suck. Absolutely garbage. Trading them in for another pair of Fit Pros.

I’ve got the Beats Fit Pro and have had them since launch. They are wonderful but the left earbud is completely shot and the right wingtip has started to come off. I’ve super glued the right wingtip and its fine for now. I feel like we are so close to the release of the Beats Fit Pro 2 but since we haven’t heard/seen anything to confirm this I’ve been debating

Get another pair of Fit Pros? Get the Beats Studio Buds Plus? Hold out until Beats Fit Pro 2?

Any feedback is welcome.

TIA!

The Apple Beats Fit Pro [1] are the only headphones that stick in my ears without falling out.

I'd love for these to get upgraded!

  • wireless charging

  • new airpod technology

  • better mic

  • something else?

It's been years thought...

Does anyone think these will ever get an upgrade?

r/beatsbydre on Reddit: Powerbeats Pro 2 vs Beats Fit Pro vs AirPods 4 (ANC) vs AirPods Pro 2 Detailed Feature Comparison + Impressions
February 22, 2025 -

I wanted to put together a detailed feature comparison of Powerbeats Pro 2 vs Beats Fit Pro vs AirPods 4 (ANC) vs AirPods Pro 2. I've regularly used all of these modes except AirPods 4 (ANC).

I don't want to say too much about sound quality and ANC of Powerbeats Pro 2 just yet because I'm still getting used to how they fit. I remember hating the Beats Fit Pro for about a month until I got used to them, and I now love them. I will say that Powerbeats Pro 2 sounds good and has good ANC with a good seal, but the sound quality is just a bit muddier and the mids/highs are a bit harsher/sharper than I'd prefer. AirPods Pro 2 has noticeably better sound quality and ANC than either the Beats Fit Pro or Powerbeats Pro 2.

Beats Fit Pro, Powerbeats Pro 2, AirPods 4 (ANC), and AirPods Pro 2 all support the following features:

  • Noise Control: ANC + Transparency

  • Personalized Spatial Audio with Dynamic Head Tracking + Spatialize Stereo

  • One Touch Pairing

  • Automatic Switching between Apple devices

  • Ear Tip Fit Test

  • Headphone Accommodations

  • Automatic Ear Detection for auto play/pause

  • Hands free "Hey Siri"

  • Announce Notifications

Exclusive to AirPods Pro 2, Powerbeats Pro 2, and AirPods 4 (ANC):

  • Low latency lossless audio with Apple Vision Pro

  • Hands free "Siri"

  • "Case sounds" - While the Powerbeats Pro 2 case doesn't have a speaker, it will play certain "case sounds" through the earbuds. Interestingly enough, these sounds appear to be the same as the ones developed for Beats Solo Buds, not the ones AirPods use

  • Qi wireless charging

Exclusive to AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 (ANC):

  • Adaptive Audio

  • Personalized Volume

  • Conversation Awareness

  • Head Gestures to respond to notifications

  • Apple Watch Charging

  • Activation Lock/Lost Mode

  • Speaker on case for Find My

AirPods Pro 2 Exclusive Features:

  • Hearing Protection

  • Hearing Test/Hearing Aid functionality

  • MagSafe charging

  • Precision Find My

Powerbeats Pro 2 Exclusive Features:

  • Heart rate Monitoring

  • Best battery life (8 hours with ANC on, 36 hours total with case)

  • Physical volume buttons

Conclusion:

Beats Fit Pro, Powerbeats Pro 2, AirPods 4 (ANC), and AirPods Pro 2 all provide a good experience for Apple users, IF the comfort/fit works for you. I'm confident that the vast majority of Apple users will be able to find at least one of these models where the fit/comfort works for you and you are reasonably satisfied with the sound quality, noise control, and overall feature set. AirPods Pro 2 definitively provides the best sound quality, noise control, and overall feature set for Apple users, IF the comfort and fit works for you.

I'm disappointed the Powerbeats Pro 2 currently lacks a bunch of features that even AirPods 4 (ANC) has, but I'm cautiously optimistic these features (Adaptive Audio, Personalized Volume, Conversation Awareness, Head Gestures) will be added eventually in a future firmware update. If Apple can add these features and slightly tweak the sound signature to make the mids/highs a little less harsh/sharp, the Powerbeats Pro 2 will be basically everything I hoped they could be.

I'm still desperately hoping we get Beats Fit Pro 2 with the H2 chip this fall, as I currently prefer the wingtip design over the ear hook design. Perhaps Beats Fit Pro 2 could launch day 1 with support for Adaptive Audio, Personalized Volume, Conversation Awareness, and Head Gestures, at which point Powerbeats Pro 2 would receive a firmware update that adds these features. This is the best case scenario that I think is realistic.

I’ve been using the BFP since March 2022, and I have no issues with it all, even the battery life is still exceptional! But the PB2 is really tempting me.. I’m loving the new slimmer look, and I wouldn’t say no to better ANC and transparency. Just wondering how much of an upgrade would it be.

It really just depends on your preference. I have the BFP and already ordered the PB2 because I prefer the hook design overall.

My early comparison (I have NOT worked out yet in the PBP2, just did all kinds of ANR testing and "head banging" lol.) BFP locks into the ear much better than PBP2. The seal of the rubber eartip is kept more perfect during rough movement of the head which maintains the quality of the sound and the quality of the ANR better than the PBP2. The looser fit of the eartip in the PBP2 which lacks the wingtip results in the seal occasionally working itself slightly loose hurting the ANR quality and reducing sound quality (mainly reduced bass.) The looser fit in the ear DOES mean the PBP2 is considerably more comfortable than the BFP, but wearing the BFP for the last 3 years I'm pretty used to it. In terms of security of the earbud itself, ie. it falling out... the PBP2 is clearly the best... the hook means it isn't coming off without your ear coming with it (only joking a little.) The BFP for me will NEVER fall out of my ear UNLESS something PHYSICALLY touches it but that could happen if I wore it playing a sport like soccer, basketball etc. As a runner I have NEVER had the BFP fall out so the extra security of the PBP2 might not effectively mean anything to me. The sound quality when the seal is perfect on the PBP2 (it always is on the BFP for me because the wingtip locks it in so perfectly) is near identical to the BFP... the bass is identical (both excellent) and the highs are perhaps a bit less detailed on the PBP2 but its so close as to be meaningless. I think both are great, but you can't say the PBP2 is better to me. The ANR on the PBP2 might be the tiniest better than the BFP but they are REALLY REALLY close, and if you lose the quality of the seal in the ear on the PBP2 than it is worse than the BFP. Overall I would call this a tie again because the better seal of the BFP means better consistency of the ANR. The new smaller case of the PBP2 is much better than the old PBP but it remains 50% larger than the BFP and to me would not be pocketable. If you need to carry the case in your pants pocket you really shouldn't be looking at the PBP2 IMHO. I'm torn. I was hoping the new H2 chip would lead to noticeably better ANR and sound quality and really I don't notice either. I was hoping the PBP2 would have rock solid security and while it does in terms of not falling off your ear, it doesn't in terms of a good seal IN your ear which hurts sound quality and ANR. I really need to test the PBP2 in real work workouts because its possible my "tests" have been more violent / aggressive than was fair but on the other hand the BFP passes those crazy tests.

For context: I love my beats fit pro, except the size of the case. Unfortunately Air Pods Pro don’t stay in my ears despite super compact case. And, looks like the Bose Ultra earbuds’ case are not small either. Understand they’re a league better in terms of sound quality due to $50 extra. I’m not a fan of the Bose Ultra open earbuds.

The Beats Fit Pro are essentially the AirPods Pro 1 in a different package. They’re missing features like Qi charging and their ANC isn’t as good as the AirPods Pro 2. It’s fine, but not worth their full MSRP. I wouldn’t buy a pair at this point. They’re old and in need of an update. Some think they’re going to get an update this Fall. The PowerBeats Pro 2 are just around the corner. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Fit Pro 2 are released after that and are just the PowerBeats Pro 2 in a smaller package. If ANC and sound quality are your priority (and you have an Apple device), go with the AirPods Pro 2. If you have an Android phone, you’re better off with earbuds from competitors like Sony or JBL. Hell, they’re even worth considering if you have an iPhone. The AirPods Pro 2 don’t fit my ears, so I have the JBL Tour Pro 3. Same level of ANC with longer battery life and better audio quality I can tune to what I want. The new Sony LinkBuds Fit are coming my way in two weeks when they launch. I’ll bug AirPods when Apple adds wings tips because none of their earbuds comfortably fit my ears except the PowerBeats Pro. The Fit Pro hurt my ears after just half an hour.

The main reason to choose Beats Fit Pro over AirPods Pro 2 is retention. The wings will keep BFP in your ears much better than APP2. I own both and use BFP for workouts because they stay in my ears. However, I find that they will hurt my ears if I wear them for an extended period of time. When I first got them a couple of years ago they took some getting used to and my ears were sore the first week or so. I recently bought APP2 and they sound much better and are more comfortable than BFP. They have a few other advanced features like adaptive audio and conversation awareness. They also have the advanced FindMy support and wireless charging, but those are more bonus features than necessary. However, I have also had some issues keeping them in my ears. I have tried a couple of third party tips and I like the feel better than the originals.
