I have no idea if this is the right subreddit to ask this question but I've had/seen great input here so I figured I'd ask
Husband and I are trying to get a new mattress, we want something in king size.
At first my husband suggested getting two twins, putting it together, to create a king and I totally balked at the idea at first ... But now I'm really thinking about it and it might be better to do it that way?
Usually when you've used your mattress for a while, you'll see a dip in the center from where you've been laying. If we get 1 kind mattress, all we're doing is creating a BIG dip while two twins, you're creating two dips that are more contoured to your body.
We currently have a Queen and we both roll to the middle because of how huge that dip is and it's uncomfortable.
Has anyone done the "twin*2" thing and did it feel comfortable/make sense to do so?
I want to link the two sides of the adjustable base and use a bed-bridge under a king mattress pad to make the split king more like a king. Any suggestions on the best bridge/gap filler to get? The angled edges of the two mattresses seem to yield a bigger gap at the top than what I see most bed bridges advertised for.
I have a double as a single. My plan is to zip tie the frames together and get a foam mattress topper, but I’m wondering has anyone used clear packaging tape to tape the two mattresses together too? I don’t think duct tape will work because it leaves behind a sticky residue.
Hi r/Mattress. I'm moving into a newly renovated apartment and it will come with two new twin XL slatted box bed bases and sprung mattresses (or the European equivalent of twin XL). I'd rather convert these into a king than replace them to save some cost and waste, plus I'm not sure how long I will be renting this place so would rather do this than buy a new king bed & mattress.
Together they measure 160x200cm which I can get sheets for no problem in Europe. I plan to join the bases together securely and get a big strap to secure around the perimeter of the mattresses because they just sit on top of the bases not in a frame or border, but that also means that there is no gap between the mattresses.
Further than that, my options seem to be a "bed bridge" (not necessarily this one, can be found cheaper I'm sure) and/or a mattress topper. I'm not sure if I need the bed bridge especially if I used a topper because there is no gap between the mattresses but if might help comfort over the crease between the mattresses and it's cheap so might be no harm adding it also. Any advice? I'm a single guy and like to spread out in bed, if that makes a difference.
Thanks for any help!
